For the most part Repub-led states are doing okay to very well, and it's some of the Dem-led states where the crisis is worst. But, unlike the finger-pointing Goosey, who only resides in his TDS political world, I don't place all the blame on those Dem guvnors. Like everyone else they have had to deal with conflicting information, and like everyone else, found themselves in a two-month hole thanks to the lies of the Chicoms, aided and abetted by WHO.

BUT!!! and for this I do place blame, there has been an inconsistent and just blatantly obvious attempt to wreck the national economy for political purposes. How do you justify liquor stores and abortion clinics open, but mom & pop hardware stores, grocery stores/delis, and churches closed?
Nice. I copied and pasted this (with anonymous attribution to you) to reply to my most liberal TDS friend.

Been riding since your election? My bike was "quarantined" two months. Left it at the bike shop for a repair, two days later governor shut things down. Got it back last week.

Only been riding periodically...I know, no excuses. I've just been lazy.

Yesterday's trips and travels around the region revealed less masks and many of those being worn are not being worn properly.

It was good to see baseball/softball players in uniform set to play in some local tournaments.

Just my gut feeling, but I don't expect nursing home visits to happen until late summer. Hopefully by then the rapid testing of employees and visitors will be streamlined.

Apparently they will be starting in assisted living facilities this week.

I'm sure you know, but assisted living facilitie residents are not as "needy" as nursing home residents. Some still drive and require no assistance. 35% have zero ADLs being supported. I can see that it would be more difficult to keep the no visit ban in place there. Some of the ALFs also have nursing home wings or Alzheimer wings attached. It will be more difficult for those facilities to open up to visitors.

I don't know how accurate the updates are over weekends. They often seem to lag and then on Monday, or maybe Tuesday this week, bam! the numbers roll in. Also, I have read several accounts that the state's actual positive testing rate, statewide, is 6.1% or something close to that. I just use the posted data to calculate, 11.8% in this case.

Exactly. The Democrats were too focused on "Impeachment" at precisely the same time they should have been focusing and preparing for the Coronavirus.

    Re: Covid - 19 - Louisiana Edition

In Natchitoches, there are three large nursing home facilities. The smallest of the three, has been hit hard by C-19. All 49 residents and 20 of the staff have tested positive. On the other hand the two larger facilities with a combined 190 residents have ZERO cases among the patients and a total of 3 in the combined staffs. The Rehab Center (49) is the one with three lawsuits against it. Of the 13 deaths connected to the virus in the parish, 7 of them have occurred in the Rehab Center. They obviously adopted Andrew Coumo's formula...

There have been 157 cases in the parish, 69 of those in that one facility. It is sad and tragic that the folks in charge there have fumbled the ball so badly, but it does point to a bigger picture that in a parish of 39,000 people outside of that one isolated place, there have been 88 cases and 6 deaths. And we don't know if some of those 88 cases are not also connected to the Rehab Center, maybe they were visitors.

BTW, Natchitoches Parish has received another D- in "our" adherence to the recommended policies of social distancing and wearing masks. There were over 200 citations written during the 3-week curfew mandate, and that represents only a small percentage of the violations. Some folks have not changed their behavior even a little bit the whole time. Of course, their behavior has been changed for them in some cases. For instance, bars and restaurants have been closed, but they simply switched to getting drunk in someone's house/backyard instead. Maybe Natchitoches has developed the herd immunity thingy, and that is why despite poor adherence the numbers haven't spiked. Or....maybe this whole thing is just an over-blown hoax. Maybe?
