    Re: Covid - 19 - Louisiana Edition

The Chicoms first published, made known, the real truth of the virus on January 11, 2020. That is nearly TWO MONTHS after they knew about Patient Zero, on or about November 17, 2019. They had already stopped domestic flights into/out of Wuhan, even as they allowed international flights out of the infected city, and province. Yet...there are those who still defend the Chicoms...amazing.

Osterholm uses fighting forest fires as his analogy. I know fire-fighting...spent many a day on a fire line battling large forest fires. Using his analogy, it is true it only takes one breach in the line, and/or one "skip" caused by embers carried by the wind and the whole raging fire could be off and rolling again. On large project fires they create "Hot Shot" crews* whose mission it is to patrol behind the main battle line, seeking the "jumps" and/or breaks in the line, and quickly attack it before it can gather momentum. A two-man crew can snuff out a jump if they get on it soon enough.

So...if we are to use the forest fire fighting methodology for containing a pandemic, that means establishing a line to defend and doing everything possible to keep it from spreading past that line. What's that mean? Some kind of government controlled mandated lockdown, using police and National Guard to enforce the matter? Can't do that in Blue cities and states, so that won't work.

*'Hot Shot" crews are also deployed on high fire risk days, strategically placed so as to respond quickly to any start-ups, and the term also applies to "Smoke Jumpers" those guys who parachute in on remote fires to try and snuff 'em out quickly.

It is much simpler than that but it requires leadership.

Phase 1 (suppress their fire): drive the numbers down to a manageable level by significant mitigation - lockdowns. We only half way did this because it was not led at the federal level and some states did better than others.

Phase 2 (limit the spread of from the embers): this is the phase where you use mitigation with masks and social distancing in combination with testing and tracing. This phase won’t really be effective if the disease is too widespread because the testing and tracing resources will be overwhelmed.

It really isn’t a mystery how to deal with this. Other developed countries have done a much better job. It just takes leadership and a willingness to deal with reality rather than the fictional world you wish you were living in.

Trump is uniquely incompetent to lead us out of this.

    Re: Covid - 19 - Louisiana Edition

Trump is not "uniquely" competent to lead us to do anything, since he's not the only person with enough sense to do the right things. There are others who are also competent. But, he is currently the POTUS, so in that regard he does wield additional influence on issues. He is also NOT incompetent on any matters...well, except such things that require specalized training, like brain surgery, airline pilot, and those such occupations. I would say he is equally incompetent in such endeavors as well, even you Goosey, the all-mighty, all-knowing one.

As for his present occupation as POTUS he is very compentent and qualified...much more so than a majority of people, including and especially Joe Biden, obummer, Krooked Killary, Pelosi, and one of neighbors who happens to be a blithering moron.

First, just to recap, we all KNOW the Chicoms lied about and tried to cover-up the initial breakout of their China virus. That made worse by the WHO's involvement in the cover-up. Yes, most political leaders around the world were blind-sided by the blatant lies/cover-up perpetrated by the WHO. And don't even try to pretend you think Trump should have somehow knew the WHO was lying. It was (WAS! not anymore) prudent to trust the WHO for the straight scoop. By the time that truth came out, it was too late, the small fire had grown into a raging forest fire, worldwide.

Secondly, Trump did take steps as early on as the rule of law and prudence allows for a POTUS. He did create a task force, he did stop travel coming from China, and then elsewhere. He did rally industry to switch to making PPEs and equipment, like ventilators, he did move to remove/reduce regulatory hurdles for "Big Pharma" so they may conduct research and create both treatments and a vaccine...which we may never have, BTW! That is possible. And it's also possible, and most likely, any vaccine will be limited to protecting only a segment of the population, perhaps along blood type lines. Of course, you'll try to blame Trump for any pharma failures in that regard.

Trump also immediately secured practical, day to day support for areas hardest hit, like New York where he deployed that navy hospital ship. Remember!! it was the battle cry from the so-called experts, and local political leaders, like Guvnar Coma, that the single biggest crisis was overwhelming the hospitals. Surely, even you will acknowledge that. Trump quickly and successfully rendered that issue moot with the establishments of the those tent compounds, and the two navy hospital ships on each coast. But, all the way into mid-March, Dem political leaders were poo-poohing the notion of a health crisis. Yet, it is only Trump who is "uniquely incompetent."

We also had all kinds of conflicting reports, testimonials, and research findings from an array of healthcare professionals, including doctors who were dealing with the virus on a daily basis. They never, and still haven't to this day, come to one solid consensus on one plan. There are still doctors and others, epidemiologists, who don't totally agree. Hey, President Trump, this group of HC pros say it is "A" and this group of HC pros insist it is "B." Choose one...and you better be right else you'll be called incompetent by some fools on Internet forums.

Next, many people still believe in a level of "states' rights," local government rights, AND! the freedom of Americans to make decisions for themselves. Some guvnars took drastic, unconstitutional actions and Trump did not intervene, such as the states of Texas and Florida banning travelers from Louisiana. Ironic that it is now those two states being hit hard.

Also, it made no sense at all for some businesses, like Walmart, being allowed to continue operating, initially with ZERO measures, while small businesses were ordered shut down. Later Walmart and others adopted some protocols of limiting access to their establishments, while still NOT requiring mask-wearing, only just strongly encouraging it. Small businesses could have stayed open, but be required to exercise measures designed to curtail the spread of the virus. But they were never given that option.

The City of Natchitoches did implement some tougher measures, a 10 pm curfew for minors, then later, for everyone, and the requirement of wearing a mask to enter any public buildings. The mask-wearing mandate is still in place and the lone entrances are staffed by LEO with the authority to deny entry to anyone without a mask, and to arrest and detain any violators who insisted on access w/o a mask. Again, Trump has said nothing about that, and has not intervened in those practices. Why aren't all local governments, city and state, following similar mandates? Trump can not and will not stop those measures being put in place.

Yet...is only Trump who is "uniquely incompetent."

I know it is true that blue cities and states are incompetent, and moronic, so I suppose one can cast blame on Trump for not intervening Federally...by sending in Federal LEO. Oh, but wait, he did that to protect Federal property in Portland and has been roundly bashed for doing that! What chance does he have, in the arena of public opinion, of pulling off "thinking" for local Dem political leaders? If wanton vandalism, destruction, and violence is to be tolerated over the introduction of Federal LE, then no way would said naysayers support the use of Federal LE over some unseen, crisis hoax virus.

It is the Left that is "uniquely incompetent" to lead us out of this...and anything else.

It would be more effective if the Dems would accept Trump's efforts. Instead the bitch and complain, blame others, and other childish acts. Cooperating usually has positive results. So quit complaining about Trump's leadership and attempt to help solve the problems instead of doing everything against solutions for political purposes. I hope the American people recognize between now and Nov 3 that the Dems are doing everything they can to prevent our nation from succeeding. Dems and supporters are anti American. It is truly as simple as that
