No doubt it had that 'beating a dead horse' feel to it.

Lafayette won. Gulf States and SLC Boomers are the only ones who refuse to call them UL now. I'll never embrace it, but ESPN and most of the national media has bought in. So have the legislators like the guys who wrote the doomed and rigged bill(s)...Tech/NLU grad Francis Thompson being the one who really put it all together.. There are also some interesting non-committal quotes from our own guys back in 2017. It was a sell out from day one. ULM got screwed, but so did the rest of the UL system. IMO, we got screwed the hardest.

I've said from day one that when LSU decides that it will not stand for ULL's name grab attempt, it will end. To fight this we need to find a way to get the folks at LSU worked up over over it. It'll take a new approach, because right now, those people don't seem to mind what the idiots in Lafayette call themselves.

I hope anytime ULL comes to Tech to play, our announcers call them everything imaginable but Louisiana or UL. A variety of these examples throughout a game:

4. ULLLLLL (They can add as many L's as they want. Imagine a Spanish soccer announcer style "U L L L L LLLLL")
5. Ooo LA LA
6. University of LA LA
7. U. of LA LA
8. Ooo LA LA LA (add as many LA's as they want- Spanish Soccer Announcer)
9. Ooo of LA LA LA (add as many LA's as they want- Spanish Soccer Announcer)
10. University of LA LA LA (add as many LA's as they want- Spanish Soccer Announcer)
11. University of LA LA LA Lafayette
12. University of LA Lafayette
13. University of L. A. Lafayette
14. U. of L. A. Lafayette

So do NSU fans. I hear it all the time, "hey, the Demons are playing Lafayette in baseball today..." Same thing with Monroe. It's the accepted names.

My favorite is the "Leopards". LOL! ULL was playing basketball on ESPN a couple of years ago and the network mis-labeled them as "the Leopards". The TV network producers had obviously confused them with the real Lafayette Leopards from Pennsylvania. I couldn't stop laughing.

We are the most stable (elite) university in the UL system and had great, non-directional name recognition. Lafayette diminished that by pounding home the perception that they are the fagship school in the UL system. That was their plan all along and it worked.

Every nutless university president in the system just stood by and allowed them.
