Have to ask Dan, this happened before Les and who knows the politics behind it and we still need state funding and are not represented well even by our own legislators.

He was asked when this story was being done. Slight paraphrase. He is worried about Louisiana Tech, not what other schools call themselves.

We are the most stable (elite) university in the UL system and had great, non-directional name recognition. Lafayette diminished that by pounding home the perception that they are the fagship school in the UL system. That was their plan all along and it worked.

I agree with everyting you mentioned, but how many folks outside our grads/fans even know we are part of the University of Louisiana system? Do you think college fans outside of Louisiana know this? Now if we had to be called University of Louisiana at Ruston that would be one thing, but not sure how many outside Louisiana know this. Not sure many really care.
