    Or recruiter.

There has to be so much less in the way of game tape, camp evaluations, 7 on 7 work. Everything.

The next few years are probably going to have some interesting stories across the country of guys who slipped through the P5 cracks because of the pandemic but landed somewhere a little less prestigious and probably some big busts.

There are a lot of G5 schools with smaller classes at this time. Fewer on campus visits, in home visits, harder for the everyone to get comfortable. I saw one recruit quoted online saying something like, "we are committing to schools we don't know." Bigger schools have an advantage. But the transfer portal is full, any school can probably fill an outstanding need there.

I think geography may play a big role. We were close enough (obviously) to the Ruston kid that we knew him and he knew us, and for a minute everyone was comfortable enough for him to be interested (and we had a steal). But in that case he happened to "blow up" nationally and we lost him. But nationally I bet there will be stories of HS coaches who knew they had something special (and were right) and couldn't get the bigger schools to take a chance, but the G5 school down the road might trust him enough to make an offer or be able to look close enough to get a good evaluation.

Imagine if we'd had something like COVID happen in the pre-rivals era? For a year or two, the playing field would have been noticeably (if temporarily) marginally evened.

The NCAA should increase limits. They won't. They probably feel good about what they did (2020 waiver) w/out considering 2021 high school graduates are getting a bad deal.

That sucks. For one thing, that's an "all-name" team honorable mention at the least.

We're kind of checking all the stereotypical Tech recruiting ground boxes so far today (which is good).

    North Louisiana - check
    South Louisiana - check
South Arkansas - check (if only by transfer)
    DFW - check
    Houstonish area/South Texas - check
    Mississippi - check

We could use a signee from NELA and East Texas to fully round out our stomping grounds, but you'd probably have BINGO if you had the Tech recruiting territory Bingo card.

That would make a lot of sense, but I wonder if it would only hurt schools like Tech if they did. Could we actually afford the additional scholarships when paired with the stipend (or whatever we call it)?

Of course football would be the big question mark. What we actually do won't be much different that what we do now. We try to get a bunch of these HS guys to walk on and grey shirt them, hoping we'll have spots for them by the time they are ready.

If the new rule passes committee allowing transfers to play w/out sitting out, it will change the game to the point of me hunting and fishing w/ ZERO NCAA sports being watched.

Just for clarification purposes, what if the waiver is passed for only this year? If so, I will miss your commentary on games because a few minutes ago the NCAA granted every transfer immediate eligibility.

This is exactly why I think it was unfair for the NCAA to not count this year's playing time against a players eligibility. It heavily favors those already on campus, and crowds out the young recruits trying to get signed.
