i actually think they should pursue a civil case. collection of the judgment will be a hill to climb though.

Hear there is more video of the incident, which won't be released so as not to bias potential jurors. Not surprising.

The owner of the construction site says nothing is missing and he thinks Ahmaud was just getting some water. Apparently there's a water cooler on site.

A civil case will surely follow.

The guy who filmed has been arrested and charged with murder and criminal attempt at false imprisonment.

That's surprising to me. No way they can get him for murder unless he was firing shots while holding the camera. This is where things start to shift. Now the prosecutors are going to look vindictive.

It will be interesting to see if more facts come out to support this. With the very limited information available it seems like this guy did exactly what he should have. He followed without getting out of his car (as best I can tell). We don't know if he was armed or not, but in my opinion it doesn't matter. Maybe there is earlier information supporting the false imprisonment? I don't know.

The prosecuters are reaching for every advantage they can, including intimidating witnesses. The guy with the camera is now much more likely to turn state evidence in exchange for a lesser charge, or maybe even no charges at all. As for the "murder" charges I assume they are pursuing manslaughter charges, something other than Murder One.

The charge is felony murder which has a broader definition. It’s like how a bank robber can be charged with murder if someone in his party kills a teller.

The charge says the attorney feels there’s enough evidence to prove this guy was part of the group that was illegally chasing Arbery.

I haven’t read anything about it since his arrest. I’m not surprised as the police report mentioned this guys as a member of the posse...making him as culpable last the father.

Never mind this guy didn't have a gun, or a knife, and he never --as far as we know-- even got out of his car. Right? I also heard this guy had not even been in contact with the two rednecks that day prior to the filming.

This is why guys like me are never picked for a jury. I just don't put up with nonsense like this. They would have a hell of a time making me convict this guy, and they know it. They've gotta pick weaker people. LOL!

Bryan witnessed the McMichaels chasing Arbery when they passed Bryan's home. Bryan then got in his own vehicle and followed. When Arbery first ran around the McMichaels' vehicle, Bryan tried to block him. Arbery ran past Bryan's vehicle and the two vehicles turned around and continued pursuing Arbery. And then the video happens.

Jurisprudence in the U.S. has long charged anyone who helped commit a crime as if they directly committed the crime. Bryan is involved in this as much as the McMichaels even though he didn't start the chase or pull the trigger. He actively helped, though, and that's enough for something to happen for charges. I think the charges against Bryan is a play to get him turn state's evidence like dawg80 said. That more or less has seemed to be the tactic his lawyer has been going for from the start when he released the video.

Oh, I agree. It's "something" just as you stated yourself, but it ain't murder.

In fact, it's a long way from murder. I'm not even sure what they could charge him with in the real world since he never even got out of his car, and I presume he did't mastermind this thing. Now, THAT would be a game changer. But I haven't read that .

Did Bryan know the McMichaels? Beforehand, I mean.

That certainly makes him more of an accomplice. Murder is a tall order for any of them. Bryan will probably get a slap on the wrist. I expect the McMichaels to do some time.

I don't know that he should have had any reasonable expectation that it would end like this. Trying to block his path with his car is a problem. Other than that I don't see major missteps to cause them to go after him.

In a preliminary court hearing, an investigator testified that Travis McMichael can be heard using a racial slur as he was standing over Arbery as he died.
