Might as well never play again.

There is nothing that can change between now and the spring, or at any moment in the future, where this logic cannot be applied again.

How can they justify spring football? Or any kind of sport, ever?

We all saw it coming, but this is a watershed moment.

@PeteThamel: Louisiana Tech has paused football practice after 5 positive COVID -19 tests and 13 additional players under contact tracing, the school said. La Tech doesn't open until Sept. 12, which gives them flexibility in training. Remaining players will lift in small groups.

    Exactly.

So they propose playing in the spring. That ends when, mid-May? Then you you’re going to play another whole season with practice starting in August? That could be much worse on the players.

This whole thing is a farce.

According to Dan Patrick, Big 10 & Pac 12 will cancel their seasons tomorrow. ACC & Big 12 on fence. SEC is trying to get teams to join them for a season.

    ---
I just read tweet and haven't listened. I'm not sure if they mean have P5 teams join SEC for a season like ND did with ACC.

I say we join the SEC, bring Bama, LSU and UGA to the Joe. Once we win the SEC they will have to let us join moving forward.

That would certainly make for an interesting football season.

ODU just cancelled their Fall sports. I don't know how this will affect C-USA scheduling.

    I
think college football is getting very close to blowing up for the fall. Very sad.

Apparently ACC & SEC are wanting to play - it looks like it hinges on what Big 12 does

I hear ya. The Big 12 has generally taken the same approach as CUSA, the heck with covid let's grab as much cash we can. They are already playing catch up to the SEC and Big 10. I was a little shocked they said conference plus one and didn't say play as many as possible and the heck with the consequences. Their biggest fear is falling further behind and Oklahoma and Texas leaving for greener pastures in the future. Then it's the Power 4 and the Big 12 fighting the AAC for Group of 6 superiority.

I am hopeful we have college football, but must admit it doesn't look good. How quickly decisions change. The Power 5 came out with their decisions the the MAC says no football and it seems everyone is reconsidering their decisions.

I thought I read or heard that the CUSA board is meeting again tomorrow or Wednesday in light of the MAC's move and the Big Ten vote. The 8 + 4 schedule they approved Friday is probably in jeopardy.

My guess is CUSA follows whatever B12/SEC/ACC do.

Any team that plays gets to go to a bowl!! Yippie!!!! There might even be a few bowls without teams. New rule: Team must be a Division I or II school to go bowling. (Of course I'm making all of this up, but who knows.) I admit I have been watching cornhole on ESPN - and it ain't half bad.
