That's the reason for going conference only, that I understand. Those moves make total sense. I didn't understand the CAA move.

I kind of get it now. They cancelled their season is what they did. The confusing part was allowing teams to play outside the conference games. Means their wasn't a consensus.

CAA football is made up of teams from 4 different conferences and spread out (for a fcs conference).

Are you saying non-mask wearing is the only selfishness and stupidity involved?

If you were able to get out more, you'd see lack of social distancing with a huge majority of people who have comorbidities being the ones not practicing it.

They are wanting medical insurance beyond their playing days and revenue sharing. Players have the conference and universities by the short ones at the present moment. Conference and universities are spreading the message we are going forward only with the best health interest of the student athletes in mind. The best thing to due in that situation is to cancel the fall seasons, that is not debatable if the best health interest of the players is the only consideration. But what the powers to be are really saying is, "we will move forward the best we can without sacrificing the billions of dollars at stake." The athletes are saying fine, but if you are going for the money grab we want our share. This is capitalism at it's finest. Nothing more, nothing less. The only hope is that players in all conferences do not join in this cause. The Pac-12 athletes are acting no different than NBA, NFL and MLB players. They are using the situation to negotiate the best case for themselves.

The problem those Pac 12 athletes might run into is the fact their universities would be first to pull the plug on the season.

Threatening not to play at schools like Stanford, Cal, USC and UCLA will only add fuel to the fire for those academic administrators who would love nothing more than to cancel the season. Those schools are filled with administrators and academics who would love to make a point.

So 4 of the 5 P5 leagues move forward with a season. The fifth sits it out, because some students/organizers went too far.

It's like a striking union that causes the company to file for bankruptcy protection so it came come back on its own terms.

I think everything you say is true, but those same administrators would also be the first to agree to divide up the economic pie. I have a feeling covid is only going to speed up pay for play.

Hate to interrupt the fashion and political discussions with football talk, but the ACC is going with a 10 game conference schedule plus one. Notre Dame is included in this agreement.
