Louisiana Legislature Hijacks Funds
It goes to the floor for a vote now, but it came out of committee...the legislature is poised to confiscate $200 million earmarked for local governments, from the CARES deal, and keep that money under the direct control of BR. It's part of $810 million earmarked for local governments. The bill, if it passes, gives BR the authority to hijack more of the remaining $610 million, and anymore in the future from stimulus packages. In other words...none of it is safe to go where it was intended. The State already had $1 billion+ from the stimulus package for itself.

Re: Louisiana Legislature Hijacks Funds
There's also been talk in Baton Rouge of using this crisis as a means to "finally" make some sensible consolidations in some of the universities in Louisiana. What this corona virus crisis is doing to our state is small potatoes compared to what the oilfield crisis is doing. This oil glut has absolutely killed the oilfield, and it's going to do the same thing to our state's budget. The UL system schools are in for some very hard times. Some may not survive the hard times ahead.
