MLK's charge? What was MLK's charge? For people of all races to be integrated into the whole? For success and failure to be determined by the talents of an individual instead of the their skin color?
I don't think his idea was for any race to separate by their skin color and be lumped into "communities" where they are expected to toe the line or be castigated for the audacity of individual thought. Telling someone that they "aren't black" if they think a certain way is a good clue to how they feel.
The systemic aspects of racism are pretty much gone. The codified barriers have been removed and overt racism is pretty much frowned upon (yes, racism still exists at the individual level....like when I was called white boy over and over while being held up at gunpoint by a group of black males for daring to visit a "black community"). The important thing is to venture outside of self-imposed racial boundaries and stop listening to those that say opportunity doesn't exist while they collect millions from the suffering of others.
School vouchers...school choice. Stop allowing the politicians to get rich off the teacher's union that demands they be allowed to continue providing poor education in poverty stricken areas (and the mostly white Appalachian region fits in here too) without any repercussions.
