"Amazon Wasp"
Hearing about a huge wasp, apparently from South America, the Amazon region, that has invaded the US. Saw a big wasp yesterday, never seen any that large before, and a fellow said it might be one of those "Amazon Wasps". That's not the official name of it, but it's being called that because of its size, ya know when something is big it's referred to as "Amazon" (a large woman!) and because it is native to South America. Apparently, these large wasps have hitchhiked with migrants, or more likely, in illegally imported crates. boxes, packages, whatever. Usually at proper custom locations such dangerous insects are identified and then isolated. But with the open border large amounts of packages are entering the US and such hitchhikers are finding their way here.
The wasp I saw yesterday is 50% bigger than our domestic red wasp.
Thanks Sleepy Joe for the open borders. Just wait to some of these Amazon wasps attack somebody. The stingers are huge!
Wall construction is happening again...
Had another encounter yesterday. Was looking at a vacant house and this huge, pure black wasp flies straight at me. I hit it with my clipboard, made of wood, it bounced off the wall and got pissed off! It was all I could do to get out of the house. These "Amazon Wasps" are 50% bigger than the red wasps, which are big enough.
