I honestly don't understand some people's acceptance of ILLEGAL immigration. Have some moderate/conservative-leaning friends who are okay with it, citing humanitarian reasons. Never mind the murder rate amongst exploited immigrants and general hardships they endure to get here. Not very "humanitarian."
We are a nation of immigrants...LEGAL immigrants...and as such we should always have a certain immigration influx, but LEGAL! I could support some reforms to the legal immigration process, reducing SOME of the red tape and hurdles, but keeping a proper watch on those wishing to come here. But, at the same time, slam the door on illegal immigration. Zero tolerance.
On a related note...
my niece-in-law, who is married to my Pentagon-employed nephew, Molly is her name, is the director of a private charitable organization that facilitates immigration of US-friendly folks. Her organization has been working overtime rescuing stranded US citizens and Afghans who were loyal to us and who remain in Afghanistan. It is an arduous task and expensive too. Now, they have extended their efforts to saving Ukrainians. She told me organizations like hers, and many, many church-supported groups, have stepped up and are doing what the US government should be doing but has dropped the ball on. The Biden Admin spends $billions catering to illegals, enabling the Mexican drug cartels and human traffickers to operate, and won't lift a finger to help stranded US allies...simply amazing.
It was hinted I shouldn't share this, but I am all about transparency and F--K the Biden Admin...anyway, the US does have boots on the ground in both Afghanistan and Ukraine, but it is mostly hired mercenaries doing the dangerous, heavy lifting in both places. US special forces are there to be the link between the "hired help" and the charity rescue groups. You can fill in the blanks...
God bless people like my niece and especially the heroic folks on the ground. There is no greater love than when a person is willing to lay down his life to save another... or put themselves in harm's way.
AND everyone that has wedged themselves in here illegally for the last year or so should not (EVER) have a path to citizenship. Throw them in the desert on the Mexican side of the border and let them figure out how to survive.
Heck, put Brandon there too, just to keep them company.
They should have to come back in legally to ever get a chance to be a legal citizen.
No amnesty. EVER.
