I see ULm got 3 votes in today’s AP top25 release ;-)

No one gives a hoot about this game anymore.

The attendance from the ULM fans the last few games in the late 90s is evidence of that. ULM fans are no shows.

Hell, ULM may beat tech - Tech will probably win - either way, 3 reporters will cover the game and it gets us no good regional coverage and zero national coverage.

The rest of the nation is still trying to figure out ULM, ULl, Louisiana, Monroe, Warhawk, Cajun, USL, NLU, Ulala, UL-x....etc.

That seems to be the one Achilles heel that everyone we have had in the AD chair in the last few decades has had. They are willing to settle instead of strive. Like when news broke about turning down Kansas (I think) offering to play us at home, screwing up the BYU deal a few years ago etc. I mean Kansas isnt a football powerhouse, but when you can get one team from a bigger conference to come into Ruston take it. Games at home against P5 are hard for G5 to get plain and simple. Almost if not all of our contemporaries have been able to do it, even NLULM.

Kansas is no powerhouse, but they are a contemporary to us - in my humble opinion. Additionally, at some point UT and OU will look at the huge paydays that the SEC and B1G pay and may want to get some of that. Then you will have the Kansas, K State, Baylor, TCU, Iowa St, et al looking to replace and possibly grow. We should be in those discussions/ not the current talk of combining Sunbelt and CUSA.

The first official AP Poll is going to be out on the 24th. Advanced word is Ohio State will be number 2, except they do not even have a team playing in the fall. The first poll is to include all teams, after games start being played only schools fielding teams are eligible for votes. As of today only 67 schools will have teams. This is our year to finish in the Top 25. Hope we have a quarterback.

Seriously though with only 67 schools playing we should finish in the Top 25. With everyone playing mostly conference games the P3 won't have as many schools with gaudy records.
