I'm trying to understand why Marshall has 4 games being broadcasts on CBS Sports Network this fall, and LA Tech only has two? Here are the teams and the number of appearances they will have on CBS Sports Network this fall:

    4 Appearances: Marshall

3 Appearances: Southern Miss, UNT FAU & MTSU

2 Appearances: LA Tech, UAB, WKU, UTSA & FIU

    1 Appearance: Charlotte & UTEP

    0 Appearances: Rice

    * ODU is not playing football this fall due to COVID.

Wow! Rice must have made somebody mad. Rice doesn't have a single appearance scheduled this fall on the CBS Sports Network or on Stadium Network, CUSA's 2nd biggest TV network broadcaster this fall. LA Tech will play 2 games on the Stadium Network.

I’m thinking the broadcasters expect them to cancel season like ODU

Plus they have a game on ESPN. Marshall has had 8 seasons of 10 or more wins, 4 top 25 finishes and 1 top 10 finish (an undefeated season) since becoming a FBS team 23 years ago.. Plus the plane crash and We Are Marshall movie. They are also in a state with only two D-1 schools. These things give them a nice national exposure.

All good points. And all are good motivational reasons for us to beat Marshall in Ruston this year.

To be one of the conference’s better teams year by year and running with the best winning bowl record in the nation, Tech should have better representation in this schedule. I guess it’s typical though of our lack of respect. Hopefully a new AD will stand taller and have a louder voice to be heard in speaking up for Tech to make good on who we are.

I'm pretty sure his scheduling concern for us was more to work around our quarter break and Thanksgiving which probably took away options earlier in the season like opening conference play on the road. I will say that he did a good job of handling our bowl locations. We never had to go to an eastern time bowl. We got New Orleans out of the way without having to play LaLaff down there. We got the Hawaii thing out of the way for a while and we've made multiple trips to the DFW area. He has destroyed our home football game day experience and killed attendance, but he did well getting us to the best locations for our bowl games.

Let's be realistic...TMac really didn't give a rat's a$$ about Tech but merely used Tech as a stepping stone to the next job! Anyone thinking that he would be here for the long term are the same ones thinking the same with Dooley, Dikes, et al! It's a pipe dream to think that we as an institution would be able to hire someone in any leadership capacity without thinking of their next J-O-B! I am one of Coach Holtz worst critics but I have to tip my hat to him in the regard that he is still here! Now with that said, it may be that he is an unattractive choice for another program but regardless he has embraced this program.

Of course he wanted to use us as a stepping stone. Problem is nobody wanted him as an AD. Losing him was never going to be a big loss.

As for Holtz, we hear his supporters say he has had offers from other schools, but we've never heard the name(s) of any of those schools. His name being mentioned does not mean he has had offers, much less turned any offers down. He developed his coaching style before he arrived at USF. Nothing has changed and the "step up" schools recognize that. He was a good deal for us financially when we hired him. He has certainly been consistent here at Tech, but he's left a lot of wins on the table. The fact that beating USM was what many here and our Coach call Tech's greatest win during his coaching career is very sad.

Come on. That's not being said because of X's and O's or quality of opponent.

That's very much an "under the circumstances" kind of thing and a legitimate statement in that light.

I don't care about them using TECH as a stepping stone. His problem is he didn't do anything to achieve that. Most people that are climbing make others want them by the work they do- that was not the case here.

Yes. If we can consistently catch rocket-boosters who are building their careers, we'd be better off for it. If we're just here so you can make a paper tiger...
