    Skip's new 5-year contract

Back in January, Holtz, after having just wrapped up his seventh season as head coach, agreed in principal with Tech on a new, five-year contract worth $4.025 million total that would’ve given him a $105,000 raise, from $700,000 to $805,000 base salary annually starting this year. But two months later, collegiate athletics, including Louisiana Tech, were shut down due to coronavirus health concerns, a pause in action that sent ripples throughout athletic departments and their financial bottom lines.

So Skip basically gave us an interest free loan of a couple hundred thousand for a years, very nice of him.

The streak of six bowl wins in a row is very nice, but I want to see a couple of conference championships in the next five years. Let's raise the bar. I am tired of hey we did as good as last year. Going to a bowl game should be the absolute minimum after year five. There should be a major sense of disappointment after five years in CUSA and no conference championship, we are now in year 8. We aren't in the SEC.

Bad business, but it's very nice of us to pay more for what we are in no danger of losing.
