With all the regular linebackers left in Ruston, I think he did play some LB tonight.
He’s a 6’1 228 linebacker. He never lined up as a DL.
Grubbs was not even listed on the depth chart for the Southern MS game. So..... if there are at least two players ahead of him on the depth chart, they must be really good. One game does not a career make, but I'm thinking the coaches are going to have to figure out a way to get him some playing time.
Any way you slice it, this was a great win! I counted 9 Freshmen, as well. Our pure guts and will won this game in a furious comeback! With much less practice, many missing, a road game, against our longest standing rival, and our first game - I don't think we were supposed to win this one. AMAZING Grit and Guts in the 4th Quarter!!!!!
That's Holtz. He's done it many times during his run at Tech at QB and other positions.

Great parting shot by our former AD to give the guy a new 5 year contract after two years when the money was not there. I"m talking January when the decision was made, not the adjusted amount.

I think USM O line is limiting what Matt can do. I thought they had a good game plan, and I thought Abraham played really well for most of the game.
Just to add to this. We had a large group of players who have not practiced at all for a few weeks who have been in quarantine who came back last night. Some, like Henderson, looked out of shape. But all gutted it out and contributed to a big win!

Holtz is very much the ‘everybody feel good’ or ‘political correctness’ kind of coach. He doesn’t necessarily play his best talent and often has to be forced to do so by player fatigue or injury. Another of his glaring ‘don’t want to hurt anybody’s feelings’ faults is when he doesn’t beat teams but rather gets ahead and then tries to coast out with a squeaky win.
There was no good reason for Holtz to put Allen back in at QB after Anthony had established the momentum and brought Tech back except for trying to give Allen a chance for the win. That way Holtz could continue to consider him the #1 QB. Great job by Anthony to capitalize on the opportunity and seize his spot! Now we’ll see if Holtz goes with guy who earned the #1 on the field or goes with the guy that he hopes can do the job.
