Oh my goodness! BYU looked awesome destroying Navy. This must be TMAC's "in your face" parting shot.
I like it. This is a chance for LA Tech to play one of this year's BEST G5's. Assuming we can field a team this year, this will be a good TV game if one of the networks wants it (besides BYU TV).
Awesome!
Invite Gary Crowton to do the coin toss.
That game will be on ESPN or ESPN2. It is a great addition.
I need to figure out a way to get into the stadium that night. I only get see the Dawgs in person every three years or so because I live so far away. I was going to get my fix in Vegas this year, but that didn't happen.
It will suck if they play here I can't see it. My family has BYU season tickets, but because of the the restrictions they have, the chances of getting in are slim to none. My daughter lives only a block from the stadium and I live about 30 minutes from it. I moved to Utah the year Tech left the WAC.
Regardless of what happens with me, this was good job by the Tech administration to get this one.
Navy was destroyed, but it was their first contact all season. Navy players never so much as touched. I cannot imagine the first time to have live contact being in a game. Niumatalol admitted afterwards he misplayed the situation.
This takes some of the sting out in missing the Baylor game.
So. . . is this a money game?
Are we getting a return game or just a paycheck? And if it's a paycheck - what are we talking? Surely not normal SEC/ACC/Big12 paycheck, right?
I guess usually the 2-for-1 deals essentially work as a home-and-home and then a discounted road game - so maybe it's on par with what we'd have been getting from Baylor (I hope it's a one-for-one, but I feel like they'd have mentioned that in the announcement).
Basically, we're replacing a 500K paycheck from a road game against Baylor with a 550K paycheck for a road game at BYU. Yes, after all travel expenses are paid it's a wash, not a moneymaker. But, we were desperate for a game, and this is a high quality opponent, and the game has a good chance of being picked up by one of the big sports networks, assuming we don't just crap in our pants at Southern Miss.
