I think we might have a good/great place kicker this year!!! So far, so good - on field goals and PATs anyway.

1. It takes way too long to get our defensive calls to our players
2. The QB rotation project is a failure
3. We have some talent - unleash it
4. Our players’ pants - they don’t fit right - our guys are constantly trying to keep their football pants pulled up
5. We drop some good passes that should be easy - then we make tough catches
6. If we get any type of decent QB play and our D does not give up big plays, we beat BYU
7. Our SEZ looks good on TV
8. At times our linebackers and DBs take horrible angles to the ball
9. Loosing #3 is going to hurt in the 1st H next week
10. Our center will get a legit NFL shot
We are really good. We have guys that can really play and when the pressure is on our D we have held thus far. Guys look like they are having fun out there. Skip has built a culture, like him or not.
I was expecting for HBU to do exactly what they did. We would have held them to a lower number if the officials would have blown the whistle on holding more, but we soundly beat a VERY good pass offense! This team came within 2 of beating Texas Tech all with their offense. I think our defense will be better against BYU, but I think it is time to play our obvious #1 QB for a whole game now. It is taking a whole set of downs for each QB to get acclimated to the game. The BYU game will tell us how good we are or if we are just middle of the pack.
Our first really big test will be this Friday night....
We have a chance to be really good on offense
Our D gave up 38 pts to a FCS team
Regardless of offensive style & QB ability we should never yield that many pts to a FCS team that was 5-5 last yr
I’m concerned about our D, especially our secondary - gotta get a lot better
How deep in the roster did we play on defense this week? Outside the first two drives, our defense held tight in the first half and the first possession of the second half. Once we had a 28 pt lead, did we start playing more of the guys lower on the chart?
We got to their QB multiple times late in the 3rd and 4th where he would just barely get away. Many times we simply couldnt because a Husky had us by the jersey.
I agree with you. LA Tech Defensive Coordinator David Blackwell made some nice defensive adjustments after the first 2 HBU drives, and brought more pressure on the QB. That changed everything. You probably never completely shut down an offense like HBU's, but as someone else noted, the HBU OL was getting away with murder all night by holding. I've never see so many stretched jerseys.
All that said, we have a defensive star in the making. For the 2nd week in a row, true Freshman Tyler Grubbs once again led all tacklers, with 12 total, 5 solo. He was followed on the stat chart by Senior LB Trey Baldwin, with 9 total tackles, 6 solo. However, I believe Baldwin was kicked out of the game last night for "targeting", so we'll have to suffer thru the first half at BYU without his services.
HBU OC will be hired away.
What’s funny is Skip on postgame said we aren’t a good football team. He did say we could be a good football team. I agree with you that once we have all of our pieces in place, we should be at the top of C-USA. I’m glad with have Marshall and UAB at home. UTSA could be salty.
Looking at our 2-deep from Baylor game, we had 4 offensive players that haven’t played or only played 1 game (mostly line) and 7 defensive players that have only played 0 or 1 game, this season. That includes 4 of 6 LBs on original depth chart.
Looking at original depth chart (not sure if this was our Summer Camp chart) - but we had 9 Fr. or So. - on the Offensive depth Chart and 12 on the defensive depth chart. This team should only get better with experience.
