On this video it looks like Sokol fumbled the ball, but it was Dixon who made the strip, as The Historian said. Sokol did make the recovery though. Let's just be happy the Illinois defender didn't just fall on the ball.
You can see this at 22:24 on the video.

We used to play Boise every year AFTER playing at least a couple of money games. BYU is always disciplined and sharp, but they aren’t the Chiefs.
That was a HUGE play...great hustle by Dixon, and by Sokol who never gave up on the play. We were nursing a 21-18 lead and momentum had switched. Then we hit Henderson on that big play, took just 5 plays to score after the fumble play...Tech 28 Illinois 18.
BTW...how did the 2014 HoD Bowl end up on this BYU thread?
Speaking of BYU, their fans have it Them 55 Us 10 as a consensus prediction. They have written this off as a glorified scrimmage. Sic 'em Dawgs!
Correct. It was Dixon that made the play.
But, the larger point is, we've have 4th quarter leads over power opponents and have been in position to put people away but then start to play scared.
And I'm not talking about calling run plays over pass plays. I'm talking about players starting to play scared, really scared, - to not to make mistakes - and consequently fall apart in the process.
In fairness, I do have some hope after the Miami game last year. We got on top of them and FINISHED THEM OFF.
Team is up in the air.
