This is Luke Anthony’s team. Looking forward to Friday night.
if our defensive secondary doesn't figure out how to cover their assignments in zone, it's going to be a long night for us on friday.
last night, byu's offense looked like a team in the middle of a normal season. they were crisp in execution and everyone was in sinc. our offense still looks like a team in its second week of spring practice. we have playmakers that can make plays, but we don't have it all together yet like we need it to be against a team like byu.
hopefully one more short week of practice will be enough for us to squeeze out another win.
Unless we have a surprising offensive explosion against the best team on our schedule, I suspect we will need to keep BYU at 30 pts or under to have a chance to be in the game by fourth qtr.
Based on the fact that we gave up 38 pts to an FCS team (yes I understand HBU has a good QB, but....FCS hello) I just dont see us holding BYU to any less than 40. SO either we score north of 40 OR we hold them to less than 30. I just dont see our inexperienced secondary holding up, especially CBs.
BYU 45
Dawgs 24
AND I hope I am very, very wrong. Please surprise me DAWGS go score 45 we gonna need it!!
Watched the highlights, BYU's QB throws a pretty ball.
Let's take a bowl mentality to this game. Leave it all on the field. We've got the horses to give them a run. Let's do it!

Let's be fair and have BYU treat it like a bowl game too. Their players are disappointed being a ranked team playing an unranked G5 school. Their best draft eligible players sitting out to prepare for the draft. Their coaching staff has left for a P5 job. They must also treat a bunch of players as injured and start a third string QB. I mean let's be fair about this thing.
I will be in Pineland TX (hopefully) this Friday night @ West Sabine High School - first time the Haynesville has ever played a Texas High School in football
Darbonne Woods had to cancel after they had two positives
Then we were supposed to play Junction City, but they have had multiple outbreaks
So we are going to Tejas
I hope they have a press box...

For once or at least in the very rare instances of playing an upper echelon school, I wish Holtz would go at this game with the intention of winning it and not just trying to have a decently good showing. To beat teams like BYU you have to go at them from the start and never let up. Sure you have to get some breaks when playing on the road at bigger schools, but in most cases you earn your breaks with maximum effort. Let’s really play to win and just see what happens. Forget the ready made excuses, trust your athletes, coach your best and get it done.
