    Bob Gibson passed away

One of the absolute greatest to ever play the game passed away. Bob Uecker, one of the absolute greatest to ever talk about the game, has some great stories about Gibson available on the Internet.

My favorite baseball player ever. The dude was a bad ass. I’m sure he had a lot of good laughs in his later years watching these candy ass pitchers of this era.

Back when I was a baseball fan, I remember the WS between the Cardinals and Tigers. Bob Gibson and Mickey Lolich. I have their "bubble gum" cards somewhere.

My favorite world series of all time. The Tigers Al Kaline had been my favorite player for years and the Tigers my favorite team. Gibson was FEARED!! Tigers came back from a 3-1 deficit to take the series.

My second favorite Detroit Tigers memory was a 1977 game I actually attended in old Briggs Stadium when I saw Mark "The Bird" Fidrych win in a nationally televised game with the Yankees managed by Billy Martin.

I was rooting for the Cards, my brother for the Tigers, and he teased me incessantly for weeks after that. Then we turned our focus to football and other "fights" about who we were rooting for. Brothers...ya understand.
