Logan Diggs, Rummel's RB1, has committed to Notre Dame. I like our TE, a kid named Tyronne Hayes, not sure of his classification. Shoot! Holtz doesn't recruit TEs...never mind. Our QB Kyle Wickersham is fairly tall/big, has a great arm, pocket-awareness...attributes critical to a QB...but I fear he is simply too slow for Division I football FBS. Will probably end up at Nicholls State where he'll enjoy a good career. Most of the others, like LB Kolbe Fields, are being heavily recruited.

Is Rummel QB Kyle Wickersham any relation to former LSU QB Jeff Wickersham?

I don't know. Former Rummel and Nicholls State QB Chase Fourcade is the nephew of former NFL (including the Saints) QB John Fourcade. So, perhaps Kyle is related to Jeff Wickersham in some way.

I am so non-LSU I had forgotten about Jeff Wickersham. He is from Florida and played his HS ball there. I suppose Kyle would like to go to LSU, and they might sign him, but I just don't see him being very successful...unless he develops some wheels and some quickness between now and then.

Thanks Historian. It sounds like Kyle Wickersham might have a few challenges in the "leadership" area. His coach sounds like he wants KW to take more of a leadership role that he's been doing.

“We are trying to get him to be a little more vocal. That’s is not the type of personality he has. We need him to be that player and rub off on others around him. He’s getting there. We enjoying having him. He’s a great kid,” says Rummel Head Football Coach Nick Monica.

Loss number 3 for JC this year. Wonder how many times JT has lost three times in the regular season?

Biggest weakness is Curtis' QB. They are good on the lines, have good LBs and DBs, enough talent at RB and receiver, but a lousy QB and no kicker either. Overall they are still Curtis and a dangerous team, not to be dismissed. Rummel couldn't put them away last night. Dominated the game, had chances to score several times, but didn't...missed opportunities, missed a chippy FG too.

Oh, and Curtis plays Bro. Martin next...could be loss #4.

Raiders have Jesuit, who just smoked Hahnville. No soft touches in this district....'cept Shaw, but they are showing signs of getting better. Lost to St. Aug yesterday 33-28.

Interesting. I have only once watched JC in the regular season and that was a few years ago. Seen them in the dome a couple of times. I just looked Brother Martin is number 1 so yeah another loss is very possible.

Watched it...Martin 38 Curtis 35...entertaining game. Curtis played in 19 straight state championship games from 1995-2014, as a member of 2A. Then they moved up to play with the big boys, and have been in just 1 state championship since. But, as Martin's coach said afterwards, yeah, they finish 7-0 and #1 in the state, and have to go thru that same gauntlet again if they hope to win a state championship. As Rummel showed last year, it's tough to beat those teams once...and VERY TOUGH to have to do it again. Every game is a war, decided by one possession, and often hangs on a ref's call or some lucky/unlucky play!

Martin's coach mentioned how he would prefer ALL 5A schools play in the same bracket. I agree. But in the meantime, with the way Division I is set up, it's like taking a 32-team bracket and just eliminating the chaff, all those soft-touches who get scorched in the early rounds until only 8 legit teams are left. In Div. I we skip to the Elite 8.
