The UAB game will be an absolute bloodbath.
The UAB game will be an absolute bloodbath.
I don't want that face staring at me tonight, so I'll just say "choo-choo" and call it a night. Continuing on with Star Trek VI. Poor Chancellor Gorkon.
It’s only going to get worse, game be game, year by year. Holtz is into his escalating decline period and there’s nobody to stop it. By the time he’s done with our football program it’ll be like when Jerry Loyd killed men’s basketball. Holtz is bad in every department and probably most serious of all is his inability to motivate his players to find their best effort. Second to that is his absolute failure to identify the best talent to put on the field. Somebody better throw an anchor on shore to stop the ship from sinking because we’re taking on water at an alarming rate. In the post game, Holtz sounded as equally pathetic and dumbfounded as his coaching is. He’s as lost as a lone goose flying in a shit storm.
UTSA's QB Narcese is probably out next week, some kind of leg injury. Harris did look kind of okay vs. Army when he came in. But none of that will matter. If I were UTSA I would turn those speedy DEs lose and tell them to just freelance...go kill our QB every play. As someone else mentioned, if an opponent really wanted to, and didn't mind an occasional lucky big play, they could bring the house and get 20 sacks against us.
I just can't see this team winning another game this month, @ UTSA and home to UAB. Two more 20-point type losses is very likely. The stubborn, die-hard fan in me keeps whispering...have hope, we'll get one of these. I knew it wouldn't be tonight, never had a chance to beat Marshall. (should have been more competitive though) UAB is a better team than UTSA, but we have to play in San Antonio. As it stands now, I think our best shot is on the road at UTSA next week.
Holtz sucks...
We lose the next two, and I’ll be anxious to see what the line will be in Denton. I do feel pretty certain we can beat Rice though.
All that matters is we get to 6 wins and play in some crap bowl so Holtz can keep his streak alive. That’s literally all that matters.
Pretty sure you don’t have to get to six to bowl this year.
I suppose we’ll see. No coach since I’ve been following Tech has had his obit written on this board as much as Skip Holtz. Maybe this is the year we crater ala 2013...
Holtz has been building on this crash and burn downward spiral for all the years that he hasn’t been building a competent coaching staff. When you micromanage and attempt to do everyone else’s job or overrule what they’re trying to do, you’ve effectively set yourself up for a massive failure. Now that the clock has struck 12 Skipperella is in a really bad spot. The smoke and mirrors and good fortune of bad teams beating themselves have all vanished. Tech is the bad team now. The glass house is shattering and Holtz doesn’t have a hint of a staff to turn to to help fix anything. If they once had any football knowledge it’s fizzled out under Holtz’s ever increasing sinkhole of failing leadership.
Tucker is RB1 and is still getting less than HALF the snaps of Henderson.
That’s on Skippy.
Including letting Henderson get the ball at the end of the first half with a Junior High OL blocking for him.
Pitiful.
MU was 13/16 on 3rd downs...and had 35+mins TOP. We ended with a whopping 7 yards rushing, but the 6 sacks are counted as "rushing yards," all negative of course. Not that we were tearing up running the ball anyway. This team has issues, starting at the top with Holtz, but the most glaring needs are the OL woes.
It is doubtful it would have mattered in the end, but Holtz's stupidity at the end of the 1st half rendered the outcome etched in stone. IF, big IF, we were gonna win that game, we had to score at the end of the 1st half...and then do something positive with the first possession of the 2nd half. We did neither. The play to call with 6 seconds left was a quick slant to Hardy, it was there for the taking. I could not believe MU was lined up like they were on defense. Hardy takes one step toward the corner, making the DB think he was running a corner route, then he runs a quick slant. Anthony throws it low, between Hardy's knees and waste, and it all happens in a matter of a few seconds. It is either a TD...and it was right there...or it's 4th down and we take the 3 pts, making it 14-6. A one possession game and we get the 2nd half kickoff.
As I say, winning that game last night was a tall order, but whatever chance we might have had...a puncher's chance...Holtz squandered with his bonehead call.
