Here’s another guy that keeps getting jobs... https://www.giants.com/team/coaches-roster/derek-dooley
Except that Skip had 2 prior head coaches gigs with at least some level of success. It's not exactly apples to apples.
I always thought Bicknell would get another shot as a HC, and maybe succeed more. He was pretty young when he was at Tech (and still is for a coach, maybe there is still time if he's interested). I think his name came up a couple of times at B.C. Maybe he just prefers life as a position coach?
He had strengths and weaknesses like any coach. I think some of those didn't line up really well to win at Tech during that time period in particular.
Say what you will about Bick, but if he would have had the support and schedule that Holtz has enjoyed, things might very well have turned out differently for him.
We’d better enjoy this again because it’s very very very unlikely to be repeated in 2020.

What a difference a year makes that shouldn’t be that way.
Double the bowls games may also be worth mentioning ....
I'm not turning into a Bick fan. Those were, on the whole, some dark times. But he did have three non-losing seasons (99,04,05) that probably would have seen the postseason under today's bowl system. We might remember him differently if he'd had those chances.
FYI, BB&B front page says the game is on CBSSports.
I like some stories I hear about Bick. Like slamming helmets against the walls at halftime and cussing out his staff in front of the team. Maybe that is a little overboard...but at least he cared and wanted to win. He took it personal. There’s is a happy medium between he and a guy like Holtz. Was Dooley the median?
