As many three and outs as we have on offense, he might set a freshman record before the season is over.

I met Tyler Grubbs' grandfather in the DAC Saturday night. He was there by himself. Very nice man. As you can imagine, he is very, very proud of his grandson.

This kid is a star in the making. He's going to be CUSA's worst nightmare by 2022.

He is one of the most instinctive true freshmen I’ve ever seen on defense.

I know some of you will think I am just biased (and, you'd be right, mostly!) but I also KNOW some things to be true...the Catholic League, which is District 9-5A, is top to bottom the best in the state: Rummel, Curtis, Holy Cross, St. Augustine, Shaw, Jesuit, Brother Martin...in its current alignment. And the number of kids playing across the nation, many at elite P5 schools, and many, many others at G5 schools and making an impact, is simply remarkable. Also, the number of former Catholic League kids in the NFL, wow!

Yes, LSU seems to get the pick of the litter most of the time. But there are so many good football players, some of whom are not highly recruited, who can help programs like Tech. They come with good academics and DISCIPLINE! Kids who are very coachable and dedicated to being great student/athletes.

Izzy Tucker and Tyler Grubbs are two such examples...

He will physically get a bit bigger, stronger, and faster in the next year or two. All this playing experience as a freshman will help him play smarter and heighten his already good instincts. Good things ahead for him as long as he can stay healthy. Fun dude to watch.

Same goes for Woods. Playing CB is not easy. He has had a few uh oh moments, but he has also stepped up to the challenge quite well considering he is fresh out of high school.

Woods has played great to be so inexperienced. He gets beat some, but has also made some really great plays.

Watch #44 also. He's a RSFR LB from San Antonio. He missed the first 3 games, but he's back now and playing really good.
Grubbs started as a freshman in HS at Holy Cross. That's something you never hear of at a HS like Holy Cross.
