That was the exact point of PPP. If the business owner was a stupid FoxNews viewer and didn’t understand that it would cost him nothing to keep his people on the payroll so that he would have his staff when he reopened, that is on him.

I can’t argue with a stump. The whole point is there was no need for a shutdown and some people don’t want to borrow money that will cost them more in taxes over the next several years. Or it will just cost their kids more down the road. We aren’t leaving much of a world for our kids. Many of us work harder for less than our parents. How much worse will it be for the next generation. Obama added, what $11trillion, Trump added $7trillion, and now Biden would like to add about $5trillion in just 9 months of his term. That’s scary isn’t it? If he does this every year, he will add $20trillion by himself. Don’t spend what you don’t have. The end.
Bush II started the debt trend. In round numbers, Bush inherited about a $4 trillion debt from Clinton, obummer inherited about $9 trillion, Trump started with the debt at about $20.5 trillion, and Biden began at about $26 trillion, and as of today October 2, 2021 it is $28.8 trillion.
We went from 1776 until 2001 accumulating about $4 trillion in national debt, and have added another $24 trillion in 20 years. How did this happen?
Restaurants haven’t been shut down that long. PPP was enough of a lifeline to get through the shutdowns. Which was the entire point of it.
If you knew anything about actually running a business and payroll you'd know that was not the case and ESPECIALLY for restaurants.
