The "expected" GDP number from the "experts" was no lower than in the +1% to +2% range. Those "experts" were looking at all of the same factors that the left wingnuts are making excuses about now.

It wasn't just a miss, it was a HUGE miss.

Once they saw the breakdown components, they said it was just “noise” and the like. And the market rallied today, so it wasn’t like it was taken as bad news. The surprise was the amount of imports that were bought. The data shows that business and consumers are still strong.

    Re: President Biden

Under Trump our economy was a net-exporter, not just in energy, but overall. Being a net-importer is not good for the economy. Not to mention Biden is importing millions of more mouths to feed, drugs, and crime.

Now, we should see some increased economic activity, especially in the tourist/travel/entertainment industries which is a boost to local economies (hotels, restaurants, etc...). But, even in a tourist state like Louisiana, that industry doesn't pay the bills. Natural resources...for Louisiana, forest products, seafood, and the biggie O&G... plus heavy industry is where an economy makes hay. Elsewhere in the US, other natural resources, like gold, silver, copper, lithium, etc... Tech and the service industries are what drive the bus. The US needs to bring back manufacturing across all sectors. It's good that Intel is building two new plants, Ohio and Arizona, as a "for instance." Of course, any sector critical to national defense needs to be located here, in the geographical US.

Also, agriculture needs to be BIG in the US. We used to be the world's breadbasket; I don't think it is critical for the US to be the absolute #1 producer in any one ag sector, but we should always be big enough to feed ourselves and our closest allies and be a player in the world's food supply.

Labor supply is an issue. There's an old saying, "there are those willing to work, and those willing to let them." Biden et al won't fix the problem, they are too stupid in the first place, and don't want to anyway.

The US economy should be (always be!) #1 in the world. There is no reason, no excuse, for it not to be.

Typical blatant Trumpian lie. The US hasn’t had a trade surplus any year since 1975.

I am the newly appointed BB&B Minister of Truth. It has been determined that you are once again spreading misinformation. This is your last warning.

Sounds fair. The warning was a bit generous, though.

To correct the record, the US did run a trade deficit under Trump, but from 2016 until the China Virus crash in March, 2020, it was better than the regression line the whole time. In other words, our trade status was better than the mean going back to 1950. Under obummer we were mostly worse than the mean and now under Sleepy Joe we have crashed to an all-time worse... - $89.3 billion. During his 4 years Trump ran an average of about $40 billion annually. The US has averaged about a $47 billion annual trade deficit over the past 70+ years. So, Trump did a little better.

Mostly, this points to the need for the US to get back into manufacturing/exporting, at least to approach closer to a $0 trade imbalance.

Well that totally depends on how you do your regression, but it looks worse than average for the period beginning in 1950.

The market rallied because investors figured the Federal Reserve would have to temper their interest rate hikes because the economy was getting weak. I am not even going to entertain that you didn't know that.

And the day after you saw such gains, you saw losses eclipse that gain. What spin will you apply to that, since you have now become Trumpian and based your political opinion of the economy on the stock market?

    Talk about Baghdad Bob!

Just when you think the Biden et al bunch couldn't drop any lower...they do. This new hire, so-called Minister of Truth, Nina Jankowicz, is a piece of shit, commie bitch, evil/rotten to the core...a video has surfaced of her singing (what's up with all the stupid songs?) "Who do I have to f--k to become rich and powerful?" I suppose that list includes George Soros and Joe Biden...or maybe Hunter pinched hit for Sleepy Joe.

And then had the gall to blame it on Trump, calling it a continuation of his administration's work in 2020.

    This bunch has no floor.

    Irony.

Pretty much everything that woman believes and says is disinformation. Her and Goober are just alike.

pretty sure she was performing a song from a musical. why is this the news instead of the fact that we now have a friggin' ministry of truth?
