Why does La Tech always lose key players towards the end of the season? Opting out is the buzz word this year, but it’s not something new at La Tech. We have lost key players at the end of the season several times under Dykes and Holtz.

Would also explain why current coaches don’t respond to emails from players that are academic qualifiers(valedictorian/salutatorian) and exceptional athletes. I personally know a kid that has reached out to Tech and will likely play for a state championship at the 5-6 a level in Texas this year.He is the Qb and has lost 2 games in two years. One of the losses in OT to the team that won state.
All these preferred walk-on high school kids want is for their education to be paid for and play football. End of quarter academic casualties just burn my butt.
The difference now in the 2020s is the scholarship players get that Cost of Participation monthly spending money check in addition to all their athletic scholarship benefits. At some P5s that check is equivalent to a 40 hrs/week for 52 weeks minimum wage earner. ($18,000 for 9 months). And at many P5s it's much more.
Tech pays some C of P, and ULM has none for their athletes. ULL pays more.
Does anybody know how much all the Louisiana schools pay?

Do we lose players at a higher clip than our peers or does the quarter system just insure that our casualties are felt before season end?
Quarter system casualties occur before the last games of season.

Well, why doesn’t Tech offer scholarships to academically successful kids that are also exceptional athletes?
Not all kids that excel academically and athletically can afford tuition. I guess Tech prefers to offer the kids that are more athletic.
I guess with all the cancellations, Joe Sloan is too busy to respond to an email.
The really sad part, Wayne Smith, Leo Sanford, ... and many other Tech alumni can vouch for the kids lineage and he still can’t get a response from the current staff.
