So, do you think LA Tech's season is over, or not? I think it depends on what happens today between UNT and UTSA.
If UTSA beats UNT today, I figure Tech's season is likely over because the best the BullDawgs can finish is 3rd place in the West, behind UTSA for sure, and maybe UAB. As we know, in league play the Roadrunners will continue to hold the tiebreaker over Tech as a result of Tech's 27-26 give-a-way to UTSA in the 4th Qtr in San Antonio.
However, a UTSA loss to UNT today would give UTSA 3 conference losses --putting them behind LA Tech in the conference standings-- and give the Dawgs something to still play for.
This is where it gets a little weird.
UAB (2-1 in CUSA) has only played 3 conference games this season, and they only have Rice left on their slate. I think all CUSA West teams will need to play at least 5 CUSA games (one less than the CUSA West average?) this season in order to even qualify for the West title chase. So, I'm not sure the Blazers can even qualify this season.
And then there's this: IF UAB doesn't qualify for the West title race as a result of not playing at least 5 CUSA games, and UTSA loses to UNT today......doesn't that put LA Tech in sole possession of 1st place in the USA West? If so, wouldn't LA Tech be wise to cancel next week's rescheduled game @UNT, and start preparing to play Marshall in the CUSA championship game?
