What is with the Lincoln Parish Library rolling out kiddie porn for little kids to see?
Great news coverage in NELA - where all the Baptist at fighting this?

There’s child porn in the library?
Pretty sure it isn't kiddie porn: https://ncac.org/news/louisiana-libr...s-from-shelves

Libraries handle challenges to materials frequently. We had at least 20+ in my public library career. Everything from Time and Newsweek being too liberal, to Little Black Sambo being racist, challenges to having Bibles, to Marie Laveau being non- Christian, to not accepting a free subscription to a monthly gay magazine. There's a professional and DECENT way to handle these. I once gave a presentation to Louisiana library directors on handling these. I know nothing about this case. Google Lincoln Parish Library LBGTQ to read more. As a locally funded community resource, libraries rarely fare well by screaming "censorship" to their public. That's not the issue.
A Lincoln Parish Library operating tax RENEWAL was voted down 57-43% Saturday in a low turnout in the midst of this controversy. It'll eventually pass.
Many parents complained and the books were pulled. At the meeting of the board last night, concerned citizens brought up their crazy budget request, which it appeared the board didn’t even know about(crazy, but true). They also brought up the “literature” in question. Apparently, 2 attorneys were there threatening to sue if the books weren’t reshelved. Russ, the renewal was voted down in large part due to the budget that was presented. They wanted to be able to budget for higher expenses and still have over $3million left in checking at year end.
Techman05, thank you very much for the info. On the censorship issue if the library has a good policy and follows it they have multiple options. In my career we rarely eliminated anything. All decisions were voted by the Board in an open, public meeting after a thorough review by a staff committee. I loved handling those issues and made several friends even when their challenge wasnt upheld. Lincoln Parish has a fine library system-respected around the state- and I wish them well.
