Well could be possible that we offered him and by the time he said he wanted to come to Tech we were out of scholarships for that class. Often happens in football as schools "over offer" scholaships. Not sure how often it happens in basketball. In that scenario we would have offered him and in the end not have a spot for him. Maybe someone who follows basketball recruiting more closely can confirm if this happens.
I’ve noticed a pattern of us saying we offered local guys only after they start showing out for other teams. The last “local” guy on our roster?
We had a Smith from Atlanta, Louisiana...oh, and C.J. (Johnson) from Coushatta.
It is interesting how most or all of the NBA guys we had in the past 40 years were local..Karl Malone (Summerfield), Randy White😬 (Shreveport), PJ Brown (Winnfield), Paul Millsap (Grambling). I would expect any before that time were also likely local (North Louisiana).
