Identifying, meaning recognizing rather than considering the pros and cons and choosing one.
It doesn’t affect you until it is your granddaughter who gets taken advantage of in the ladies room by some nut job who claims he is a woman.
What is special about bathrooms? People are just as likely to be taken advantage of in other locations. And there isn’t really anything that stops some perv from doing that now.

People with gender nonconformity aren’t pervs. People who prey on kids are.
Pervs will take advantage of women regardless. That is no reason to open the door and make it easier. People die in car wrecks regardless of whether they wear a seatbelt, but we don’t do away with them. Bad guys kill good people with guns regardless if laws. No reason to restrict access to gun and ammo for good people just because.
Doesn’t your guns analogy prove the point? Why restrict access to trans people just because someone not trans might want to go into the other gender’s bathroom?
If you are worrying about your granddaughter being taken advantage of in a public restroom, you are worrying about the wrong thing. Statistics say they are much much more likely to be taken advantage of someone you know.

I’m saying we shouldn’t pass stupid laws that make it easier to commit crime than it already is. Why incentivize crime? Just because people will still come here illegally, that is no reason not to have a wall. People will still get shot whether you take guns away from citizens or not. People will still be molested, why open the door by allowing them to use the restroom with my daughter?
Would you be okay with laws making your daughter use men’s restrooms? Cause that is how it feels for people that are trans.
