Actually, this class is the highest rated I can find (data only goes back to 1999) according to the average rating of prospects according to 247.
It seems as if the HS guys we signed this year are quality.

The same reason our class is ranked so low this year is the same reason why our average is higher, fewer recruits. We only have eight guys signed so far this year, all of which are 3-stars. We always have a handful (or more) of 2-star and no star guys bringing the average down. You have to go back to the 2017 class to see a class with fewer 3-star guys than this class. FYI Amik was the "big get" in that 2017 class. So this class is short of three-star guys compared to our normal class. Since we have no transparency as to how many spots we have open, we don't know if we under-recruited or not. Only time will tell, as is always the case with recruiting.
Our average isn’t higher because of fewer recruits. Our average is higher because our players in this class on average are higher rated than other classes.
....which is obviously why this recruiting class for LA Tech is ranked #10 in CUSA. Because the class is so good. . (Yes, that's sarcasm.)
By the way, not to hinder your excuse mongering, but a lot of other CUSA schools signed small numbers in this years class too. And yet, LA Tech still finished ranked 10th!
By average, we’re #1 in CUSA. We’re 9th in total points because we have 9 recruits. Every school ahead of us had at least 16.
Quit cherry-picking to support your negative attitude, and do some reading. https://247sports.com/Season/2021-Fo...nference=C-USA
Maybe so. But my purpose was two-fold. Until THIS discussion, nobody was saying a single word about this years signing class.
I guess now Tech fans can say we've got "an excuse" for having the #10 (or #9 now) rated signing class in CUSA? I guess saying, "we only signed 9", may sound justifiable, but I was told this week that we still have 5 or 6 spots available on our 85-man roster. I'm sure there are just as many good high school athletes available this year as last year. Yeah, I know we probably want to fill those spots with "transfers". But if we do, going forward they need to be healthy transfers that are better than some of the transfers we've seen so far.
As for Dowty's sophomoric comment about my "negative attitude", it's not negative to actually care about the program. You either want better, or you don't. For the people who felt embarrassed by the 38-0 whipping at the hands of some school named "Georgia Southern", the OOC embarrassments at TCU & BYU, and the CUSA losses to UTSA and Marshall (in Ruston), NOW is a key time to care. So, I don't like seeing our recruiting class rated this low, regardless of the excuse.
Holtz better knock recruiting out of the park EVERY YEAR, because he can’t win a championship with a roster full of NFL talent. I can’t imagine what the record looks like without superior talent. Call me negative, I don’t care, but the facts don’t lie. Holtz has been here for 8 years, has had rosters with some of the best talent we’ve had in Ruston in years, in the worst conference in the NCAA, and no championship. If we aren’t striving to be the best, what exactly is it we are striving for?
If you want to talk about how these recruits have been developed, that's a different discussion, and you have every right to be upset. I'm not exactly high on what the coaching staff has done either. We should be able to do more with what we have.
But as far as the actual recruiting process is concerned, we've done a damn good job of getting them here. There's no "excuse" about why we're rated low in the recruiting rankings. They're always ranked by total points first. If you can't see beyond that, I have nothing for you.
Holtz could lead last year's Alabama team to 8-4 against our schedule.
Croots ain't the issue.
We got an offensive lineman so far. Good job! Need a few of those, as I recall.

Enjoyed the signing day show on Facebook. Lots of good info on signees as well as segments on Sneed, coach interviews, a short video by Mike Barber, & more. You can watch a recording on this link.
Tech Athletics is blessed to have Madison Kaufman, Assistant Director of Marketing, and Director of Video Operations & Creative Services Sadie Rylander & her staff. They do great work.
