How many high school guys did we actually sign? Don't count walk on players who typically go through a "fake signing" process.

    It wasn't zero.

Everyone was going to take fewer high school players this year (who isn't at the very very top of the "just pick the guys you want" food chain).

But this is a little extreme. Heck, I'd have signed someone just to have avoided this kind of story. Go find a boarderline guy who is best buds with a lower level 3 star who is a jr if nothing else. Or whose high school coach you want to get in good with.

And the next several years unitl this extra sixth year works through the classes. High school football players were screwed by the NCAA. On the flip side of this, Alabama took a full class 25+ of high schoolers this year. They had the highest cummulative grade ever as graded by 247 Sports. Of interest, Alabama has more players in this class from Texas than any other state. That includes two five-star players, the nation’s No. 2 offensive tackle, the No. 1 center, the No. 2 running back, the No. 4 dual-threat quarterback, the No. 6 wide receiver, the No. 11 inside linebacker and the No. 15 offensive guard. Alabama signed more 5 stars than most conferences did.

A whole class of disgruntled transfer players (mostly low 3-star and 2-star guys) nobody else wanted. What could possibly go wrong? I honestly thought Jake Spavital was a smart guy. I guess he figures heck we went 3-9 and 2-10, I probably don't have much time left, might as well go out guns blazing. If you look at it that way he has nothing to lose, except maybe explaining this move in future job interviews. And, if it works he is a genius.

exactly! coaches who are too lazy to do their jobs are taking players with no character at best. It’s similar to going all Juco. I think we know how that turns out

Early reports out for this year apparently show over 200 fewer high school seniors and over 200 fewer JUCO's signed. It is akin to training your whole life for a shot at the Olympics and your country boycotts. Plus 100's will be left in the portal.

Whew! I'm so proud of myself for not doing the "hold-back" ritual with my 2000 graduate.

He will have SIX YEARS to play his fours of eligibility at his institution. They signed about 11 recruits and raised another $100K+ to cover tuitions of the two-year senior starters.

Won't make a big difference if every player on WKU's line doesn't start holding on every single play. (Which is the major reason HBU's QB didn't eat dirt on every other play)
