Wow! That's an amazing performance, particularly for a Freshman. Big congrats to Jr. But he will have his hands full this week at UNT. We might want him to shoot more often.He averaged 12.0 points per game while shooting 84.6 percent from the field, missing just one field goal attempt in each victory.
Does he kinda remind you of James Gulley from Lamar?

Who wasn't "lanky" but rather "chunky"! And part of a very talented, horribly-coached, underachieving team. Finished 13-13 in 1977. But Mike McConathy led the nation in scoring, so kind of like Drew Brees, who cares what the team does as long as some individual excels personally, eh.
In the pic, Lofton Jr looks like he is trimming down and toning up a bit. Next year he will look like either be Barkley or Malone (Karl, not Moses).
I just hope he is here next year...

1977 was Emmett Hendricks' last year as Head Coach. 13-13. The next year J.D. Barnett replaced Hendricks, and promptly finished 6-21 in 1978. But the following year, in 1979, Barnett finished 17-8, and was hired away as the new Head Coach at VCU. Barnett was replaced at Tech by some guy named Andy Russo.
This is the kind of thing we "mid major" schools have to worry about every year going forward. If we have a player that's really good, I guess we have to recruit him all over again.
Lofton has it made here. I hope no one is telling him to transfer out. We have given him a huge role.. he needs to get down to 260ish. No way is he 275. He’s gotta be 300+... he’s 6’7. With that being said at his current weight he is amazing and so crafty.. he’s a true baller. We are lucky he slipped thru the cracks to us. Only thing that worries me is he was ~250 in high school. He has blown up
