No our former AD got him to sign an extension in order to sure up his remaining time at Tech.

I like it when our players and coaches are honored myself. That may just be me though.

I'm not sure I can reliably separate the team's performance from the coach's.

We have done fine this year. The real test is yet to come as it always does. We failed our big stage test vs LSU, and by an embarrassing amount. But we'll see.

Congrats to Coach Konkol. This is a great achievement and especially in this most trying year. However it works out, Tech has won 20 games and we are in the best position we could be going into the conference tournament. No pressure Coach, but it sure would be great if we could win the tournament. Go Dawgs!

DFW, I think a little pressure at this point would be appropriate. We have been in this position or relatively close and have failed to get over the hump. It’s not a “you’re fired if you don’t win the trophy” kind of pressure time. It is a “coach, your seat is getting hot and we better see some fire and brimstone kind of coaching to get your guys over the hump”.

Konkol better hope he has better luck than former Marshall Football coach Doc Holliday had last December after winning the same "Coach of the Year" award in football. Two weeks later, Holiday was looking for work. Marshal fired him. And Holliday had more CUSA championships than Konkol. LOL!

Yeah awards are nice, but you are ultimately judged as a coach by the number of championships you win. We always win a bunch of games, but never enough for a championship. I am hopeful this team gets over that hump. The talent is good enough, just need the coaching and to put it all together for three games. In basketball its been three decades, football one decade since a championship. Let's make this the year. Congrats to Coach Konkol.

Oh, I agree. Any coach with a couple of winning records at Tech can’t get fired. I was thinking more from a fan perspective that his seat should be hot.
