He played his redshirt junior year at West Virginia where he started nine games in 2019. He completed 187 of 304 passes for 1989 yards and 12 touchdowns. Lost starting job in 2020 but lead West Virginia to Liberty Bowl victory over Army throwing for 164 yards and 2 touchdowns in relief of injured starter. Only one year of eligibility left. could step in as experience starter. Could easily be a starter in Conference USA.

Grant Tisdale, a dual threat quarterback from Ole Miss, would have four years left.

Joe Milton, a pro style quarterback from Michigan. Played in four games as a true freshman an in his sophomore season. Played in 8 games and started 5 as a junior last year. Completed 80 passes on 141 attempts for 1077 yards and 4 touchdowns with 4 interceptions. He has three years of eligibility left. Would need waiver to play this season. Could also easily be a starter in Conference USA.

N'Kosi Perry a dual threat transfer from Miami, who has two years of eligibility remaining. He is graduating from Miami this semester, so he will be good to go this year. Redshirt in 2017 as a true freshman. Played in 11 games, starting 6 as a redshirt freshman in 2018. Played in 8 games, starting 3 as a redshirt sophomore in 2019. Played in 5 games as a junior redshirt in 2020 all as a backup. He threw for 51 yards on 5-of-13 passing in the Independence Bowl against us. Here are his career stats. Could also easily be a starter in Conference USA.

Year Comp Att. Yards TD’s Int’s
    2018 97 191 1091 13 6
    2019 85 159 1045 8 3
    2020 26 47 348 3 1

Chris Robison from FAU. I only list him as he is a four-star quarterback looking for a new school. He has some talent, but we all know his baggage, so I will not go into his credentials.

I could see Perry or Kendall coming in and playing this season. I think either would be an upgrade on what we have right now. Both would give the gray shirt the opportunity to get ready for division 1 football. Tisdale could also be a QB for the future. We could make a run for these players after spring holding the carrot of a starting job. What are your thoughts?
Good info. Thanks for posting this.

I don't know if Kendall can help, but Skip Holtz should be on the phone with Kendall RIGHT NOW! He has a crisis on his hands.

For his part, Kendall has started about 10 games (counting the Liberty Bowl), thrown for over 2,300 yds and at least 17 TD passes, all at the highest level. Kendall also backed up Baker Mayfield and Kyler Murray at Oklahoma in 2016 and redshirted in 2017. When he transferred to WVA, OU tried to stop the transfer!

I say get Kendall enrolled at Tech this week, and get him a helmet, shoes & locker for spring practice. I'm not saying this guy can do it, but he has had good coaching, been surrounded by great talent, and we should put him in the QB mix and see what he can do.

Kendall has had a run of bad luck. As HD said earlier, he waited for his turn behind Mayfield and Murray, and then the unthinkable happened. Jalen Hurts transfers from Alabama to OU. “IF” we could get half decent OL play, I think he could be a get along the lines of Sokol and could revive his career in Ruston. If I was Holtz, I would be sending him game film of Sokol and Driskel to show him what Ruston can do to revive his career.

Well said HD. We desperately need some sign of hope for next season. Maybe one of the current QBs will mature into greatness but I would like to get the grad transfer and make a real competition so we get the best opportunity. Hope the coaches see your post and it brings to their attention and action.

Agree with this and obviously with what HD stated.

Not sure what to make of this. Luke Anthony is not one of the QBs shown. Anyone care to venture a guess?

I will venture a guess that he is pretty limited still. But that is just a guess.

That makes sense regarding Anthony. I don't know if he is even at practice. I guess I'm just grasping at straws trying to get a feel for who QB1 is going to be in the fall. And I'm thinking it might not become any clearer until a few days before the first game. But, it'll be who it'll be.

If Anthony was my kid, he wouldn't be on that playing field yet. Waaay too soon. His injury was perhaps the worst I have ever seen. He needs to take plenty of time to recover.

I suspect we won't know who our next QB1 is until game day. But considering the 3 guys competing now (Aaron Allen, J.D. Head and Caleb Holstein), my money is on Head. Just a guess. However, true freshman Holstein (a former gray shirt) may surprise us all.

    I copied this off Twitter.

Oh well......his missed his WIDE OPEN receiver in the down and out flat on the left. I'll never understand why any QB risks his neck throwing into an crowded space like that when he's got another receiver that wide open.

Nah, sounds like it’s going to be J. D. Head to me after reports from Spring practices.

Anthony is out there..throwing..limited...JD Head has the "it" factor,,,whether our HC will allow himself to NOTICE it and make him the starter--now, that's another topic...

Joe Milton appears to be off the board, as he is headed to Tennessee.
