Miami’s four picks were all day three draft picks, none of whom made much impact as rookies in the NFL.
Also, to be successful in football you must have a good quarterback. Miami’s quarterback play was horrible that season. Last year with a transfer QB Miami was back in the Top 25. While we did have the “Conference USA Offensive Player of the Year” as our quarterback.
Miami was finishing off one of four losing seasons in the last four decades. There was a reason Mark Richt left all that money on the table at his alma mater and retired at 58 years old. He knew the talent had eroded; Miami was not the U anymore, and still isn’t! While we were finishing the most successful season at the division 1 level in school history, at least in terms of wins and losses. This was our Super Bowl. Miami would have opted out of the I-Bowl, if they had a pandemic as an excuse.
