Bulldogs Open C-USA Play at Southern Miss on Friday

Looks like USM (CUSA?) decided to allow ticket sales to the general public. I checked a few weeks ago and was told only season ticket holders and students would be allowed in, but did find some overpriced tickets on StubHub and the like.

I checked the USM site yesterday and was able to purchase general admission for all four games at $12 each. Not sure how long they will last.

Also, a FWIW...I knew a few of our fans sold their tickets to the Arkansas and Ole Miss series, but also learned that Arkansas and Ole Miss fans purchased several of our season tickets.

I was just about to post something like this: "We'll be fortunate to get out of Hattiesburg with a 2-2 record", when I saw this:

Wow! That's a heck of a lineup.

Now, that said, USM apparently has some real good pitchers too. So I'll say we'll be lucky to win 3 of 4. But I'll take it.

As the article says, S.Miss easily owns the all time series record against Tech (24-10) which includes a 8-2 mark with Burroughs as coach. Almost unbelievably Tech’s only 2 wins were at S.Miss. That’s right, Burroughs has never defeated S.Miss in Ruston. That being said, the Burroughs’ Dawgs are .666 at S.Miss, so in a four game series we should win 2.666 games... rounded up = 3 games this series. I’ll take it! Go Dawgs, let’s end this S.Miss being our Daddy thing.

Just don't jump off a bridge if it ends up 2-2. We are not going to get a 1 or 2 hit complete game shutout every time out. Baseball does not work like that. Even though my gosh we are due for some good fortune.

That was my thought - this is the year to make up some ground on that overall record. Heck, depending on how the conference tournament goes we could have that sucker down to 20-24 this year, right? Then take the all time series lead early next season. Let's do that!

Totally agree. The less we have to go to the bullpen the better.

If we can split the series, I will feel really good about the rest of the season. We have a really good pitching staff, but so do they. If we are going to win any games in Hattiesburg, we have to get some sort of production from the bottom of the lineup. We can’t have 1 or 2 guys carrying the team offensively.
I want to feel optimistic about this series, but they have completely owned us in baseball, so I’m going to temper my excitement with a little realism. All I can say to the Dawgz is a quote from ole Ric, “to be the man, you gotta beat the man, and they are the man! Woooo!!!”

If a team can get off to a good start on Friday and get into the other team's bullpen on Friday night, that starts to pave the way for a successful weekend in this CUSA series format.
Here's to Tech putting up some nice numbers against USM tonight.

Scoreless through 2. Tech with two hits and a walk. USM with a walk in the 1st, and then a hit and 2-base wild pitch that got a runner to third with two out in the 2nd.
