Junior!
You Gotta Love It!
I hope Lofton (and indeed the core of this team) sticks around, but regardless he represented well in this tournament. Great way to finish the season -- not many teams in the post-season get to go out with a W!
After trailing CSU almost the entire game, our Dawgs come back to win it, 76-74 with a Kenny Lofton, Jr. layup with 0.3 seconds remaining. Awesome win by Konkol and the Dawgs!. Junior scored a career high 27 points, and had 13 rebounds. The rest of CUSA is probably shaking in their boots thinking about next year.
What and awesome day to be a Bulldog fan!
Only 3 Div I teams in the country who played in the post season will finish their season with a win this year, and Louisiana Tech is one of the three.
Great way to end the year! I hope the young players all stick around for next year and add a few new faces in the mix.
HUGE WIN! Some fans may not fully appreciate how HUGE this win is, but trust me, the players/coaches do! They will have a great feeling during the offseason, a good positive outlook, and are all the more anxious to get after it next year and accomplish even more.
WTG Dawgs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If we could get everyone to return...
I sat next to Cobe Willliams' mom, Iris, during the game, and she was concerned about him and some of our other players "being down" after yesterday's loss to MSU. But I told her that what Cobe and our players need to understand is that ALL of the teams playing in this NIT tournament are good, very good, and they've all got players who have been working their entire life to get to this level, just like ours have. So, any win in the NIT is a good win, especially this year with only 16 teams playing. And the fact that LA Tech finished with 3 wins in this tournament, is really quite an accomplishment.
Absolutely!
34 teams were 0-1 in the dance, and even some who went 1-1, are not feeling particularly happy right about now. And there were 8 teams 0-1 in the NIT too. Venture to say a lot of those teams would happily change places with Tech today. Before someone posts the obvious, WE WANT TO DANCE!, yes, we should always aspire to win the conference and then go to the NCAAs. But you play the hand you are dealt and do your best with it.
I am very proud of the Dawgs.
Obviously the win itself is good, but I think Lofton's performance after the snubbing made this a media buzz in a way that a NIT 3rd place game probably wouldn't normally. What a performance.
A new article has been posted on www.latechsports.com:
A year ago, Louisiana Tech ended the season on a win and it was miserable. The sudden shutdown of college basketball made it so. Fast forward to 2021 and LA Tech ended the season on yet another victory.

Now that the game is over, and can't be undone or anything, just wanted to point out we almost lost the ultimate heartbreaker...that CSU dude just missed the full court heave. Whoa! too close.
