We played them. Had the game won. Coach slow hook refused to pull our pitcher.
There’s still no respect for Tech here... http://baseballnews.com/collegiate-b...1-poll-4-5-21/
Gotta earn it...we’ve been to one regional in the last 30 years
Interesting. They've got ODU ranked #30, and Tech not ranked at all. ODU has played a shit schedule (compared to Tech), and their best OOC win is one win against East Carolina. In conference, ODU has won a series 3-1 against Florida International, at home, and swept Marshall 4-0 on the road. Apparently Marshall is not very good as the Herd is already 0-8 in CUSA play.
Just curious... where in the top 100 their foes ranks vs. ours? If they are relatively close then I give that more weight. If our top 100 foes have been say ranked in 1-30 and theirs 70-100 it doesn’t hold as much weight.
I understand the computers probably don’t give a flip based off the code they have to calculate the rankings, but there is a difference.
Two losses to ULL this year are what annoy me to no end. It is much easier for me to take the LSU and Ark (game 1) late-game loses. Maybe it doesn’t matter in the big scheme but really wanted both of the ULL games and certainly expected to take at least one of them, but no.
The best I know here’s how things stand after the weekend for Tech and the previously better ranked teams that didn’t have particularly good weeks...
La Tech #16, RPI #8, 24-7 overall, 77%,(4-0) for the week.
Louisville #7, RPI #37, 20-10 overall, 67%,(2-2) for the week.
TCU #10, RPI #9, 22-9 overall, 67%,(2-2) for the week.
S Carolina #11, RPI #13, 21-9 overall, 70%, (2-2) for the week.
Florida #12, RPI #35, 21-11 overall, 66%, (3-2) for the week.
Georgia Tech #15, RPI #68, 15-12 overall, 56%, (1-3) for the week.
Based on the lesser performances of the teams previously ranked higher than Tech, I think it’s fair to say that we’ll improve in the polls this week. For D1 Baseball, I think about #12 or #13 +or- would be about right.
Honestly, based on the numbers, I think Tech should be near #10, but I don’t think the powers at be would be that honest.
Hopefully Tech will get to near if not into the top 20 in all polls this week including Baseball America.
I agree that #12 or #13 in D1 Baseball is probably the best that can be expected this week. Take at least 3 of 4 again from Southern Miss, and a top 10 ranking could be coming.
Of the teams listed above, Georgia Tech was ranked on reputation only and should drop significantly.
D1 Baseball has Tech ranked #14 after the 4/11/21 slate of games.
Baseball America has Tech as #16.
The Bulldogs are holding steady at #7 in RPI. The SoMiss series should help that more than it would hurt.
On a side note, both Charlotte (21) and ODU (22) make an appearance in the D1 Baseball top 25.
Over ranked
Louisville #7, RPI #61, 20-10 overall, 67%... Plays at mediocre Virginia this week. If Louisville doesn’t sweep this series they should fall. If they lose the series or get swept, the bottom will fall out of their ranking.
Notre Dame #10, RPI #15, 15-6 overall, 71%... Plays 4 home games this week against teams with winning records. This week should at least check how legit ND is. If they’re truly top 10 they’ll win at least 3 of 4, anything less and they should fall in the polls.
We all know this weekend’s series against USM is huge. It’s pretty much for the #1 spot in CUSA and for Tech, top 10 National recognition. Tech is capable of handling USM with a healthy team and by playing the game they’re capable of playing. I’d even go so far as to say a sweep is possible if everything falls into place just right. Might as well do it!
