We are capable of being a top 16 seed. Lots of work left.

What this says to me is that Tech needs to get to about a #13-14 rank to keep from being snubbed by the elites in the NCAA circles to host a regional. I believe the Dawgs have what it would take to get there, they just need to play up to their potential and probably be a little bit lucky too. It sure would be great for Tech and Ruston for such a thing to happen. It’s the sort of catalyst thing that could propel Tech to a whole new level going forward. As we all know such opportunities don’t happen often and for some schools and sports they never happen (like Tech football just to single out Holtz), so now’s the time!

I know some non-Power 5 schools have hosted a regional in recent years (Coastal and ULL pop up in my mind), but has a CUSA team hosted since realignment? Probably could research but thought you might know. This would be a great year to host with a new ballpark!

You can skip to the 58 minute mark for about 12-15 minutes of Louisiana Tech (and a few other CUSA team) baseball talk. Good stuff!!

BREAKING: The @NCAA will have predetermined Regional and Super Regional sites in this year’s tournament, sources tell @d1baseball. The sites for both rounds will be announced the week of May 10 and bids must be submitted by April 12.

    One more thing.

Why is the NCAA doing predetermined sites?

Sources tell me they need three weeks to get a site certified from a protocol standpoint. Not doable under the existing structure.

This sounds like the fix is in ahead of time for the bigger conference schools. They typically have the advantage in win-lose records because in the early stages of the season they play a huge number of games at their home parks. Only rarely do they go on the road and only in conference play do their schedules become like everyone else’s.

If we submit a bid, it could work in our favor if we are Top 10 on May 10th. I think this is a 1-year, covid-related, occurrence.

We have 3 possible things in our favor:

Ranking. New park. Story for the new park.

    TV loves a story.

I think with the new ballpark we should submit a bid at least.

Yeah I hope you are right. This just seems like a fix to me. But maybe this is our year. Basketball worked out better than it had for the last thirty years.

This would be a very good test for new AD Woods to see how ambitious he really is for Tech and what sort of a Tech salesman he is. This is the exact opportunity that could make or break his future. Of course it’s all dependent on the Dawgs doing their part. So when they do, Woods and Tech had better do their part.

Our people's head will explode if you tell them they have to fix the TV thing.
