Not just how many, it's when they seem to get made. Not trying to steal there, so no reason to take that big a lead at first.
Not enough clutch hits. The bottom of our order only got one hit in game one. I don’t know why Matulia came out and McConnell stayed in. I’m also puzzled by Burroughs’ choices of DH.
McConnell got the hit in the 9th. I'm more surprised Netterville wasn't the DH if he was available. He is the DH in game 2.
Both teams with a free runner in the first, USM on an HBP and Tech on a walk by Young. 0-0 after 1.

FIU beats Marshall 5-0 in game 2 to split their doubleheader. FIU pitcher Steven Casey faced just two over the minimum and pitched a 7-inning no-hitter against the Herd.

Brantley pinch-hitting for Netterville. and hits a fly to the warning track to end the 3rd.
I’m still don’t get what Burroughs is doing with his DH other than playing a guessing game.
He seems to do 2 things consistently. Runs us out of innings and subs at the wrong times.
Southern Miss loads the bases with two hits and an HBP with nobody out.
Big strikeout for the first out.
An then Jennings uncorks a wild pitch to make it 3-1 and move the tying runs into scoring position.
Infield popup for the second out.
Strikeout ends the inning. 3-1 Tech.
Tech up and down in the 4th.
Southern Miss ties it in the top of the 5th, but Wells makes it 4-3 and extends his hitting streak to 19 games with an RBI double.
Bates double makes it 5-3, answering the Southern Miss rally. Pitching change time.
5-3 Tech after 5.

Very much needed start after Tech dug into the bullpen in game 1.
