For example, maybe you start play at 8 AM Sunday morning, instead of 10 AM. Or maybe you spend Sunday night in Ruston/Monroe/Shreveport, and fly back the next day. Or maybe you transport the team via rental vans to DFW, and then take one of those $49 non-stop flights I was just reading about to Charleston or Huntington from DFW. And I haven't even bothered to check flights from Jackson, MS, or other airports.
Or how 'bout this: Why couldn't we play a "triple header" on a Saturday? Yeah, I know it would be a little unorthodoxed, but so what? It might even give us some additional national publicity. Tournament softball teams play 3 games -and often more- in one day all the time. (Back in the day, I routinely played 6 games a day during a double elimination softball Tournaments, if we won enough.) Tech could start Game 1 at 9AM, start the 2nd game at 1:30, and start the last game at 6 PM. That's 4 and a half hours between each start. And don't give me the "tired player" story. You and I both know baseball is a sport that allows most of the players (non-pitchers) to expend very little energy during a game. Especially for 18-22 yr olds.
BTW I think my "Triple Header" is a great idea. Just call it "A Day with the Dawgs", and have people tailgating between games, etc...all day long. Kinda like USM's fans were doing a couple of weeks ago in Hattiesburg.
But, for the love of Pete, don't make somebody else do ALL THE THINKING. If they want me to fix the schedule, I can fix it. But they haven't asked for the help, so that means somebody else has got to do some thinking for a change.
