Maybe. What could possibly change as a result? NATO seems perfectly happy to supply Ukraine with whatever they need without a formal declaration of war.

    Exactly what I was thinking.

Ukraine is already the American Foreign Legion.

Heck, with our aid, we've spent almost as much there as the Russians themselves.

And more on the way! 37B to be exact. Remember that next time you fill up your gas tank.

Polish prez is saying "no proof" of whose missile it is. Could be a Russian misfire, could be a Ukrainian AA misfire (we saw a few of those self-inflicted wounds in Kiev during the last infrastructure bombing, it happens). If he were looking for an excuse he wouldn't need one.

Latest report points to it being a Ukran anti-missile missile that missed its target and came down on that farm in Poland. Collateral damage and an unfortunate accident.

Report: Ukrans say that their missile batteries northeast of Kyiv have engaged 11 Russian drones, shooting them all down, and 92 Russian cruise missiles, shooting down 77 of those. Guess that means 15 Russian missiles have struck a target. One of those 15 was shot at, and missed, and it is assumed the stray Ukran anti-missile missile landed in Poland. Where did the other 14 misses land?

Thought this was common knowledge. Early on the blogs I am on were posting links to reports that it was a Ukran anti-missile missile. Heck, either Hannity or Tucker C. (can't remember which) had a retired US colonel on who stated it was a Ukran missile and remarked the Ukrans are not using US-made anti-missile missiles which have an automatic self-destruct capability to prevent collateral damage, when they miss their target.

    Re: Russia

Iranian operatives, advisors to the Russkies on operating the Iranian-built suicide drones, were killed in Crimea, taken out by a drone strike! Appropriately. Despite denials to the contrary by both Russian and Iranian officials, the world knew Iran was actively participating in drone attacks in Ukraine. Israeli Intelligence had notified the Ukrans, and "copied" the US and NATO with info on the active presence of the Persians. Ukran intelligence agents had tracked and located the Persians and their base in Crimea and set up a drone attack. It was 100% successful. The exact number of killed Iranians is not known but sources place the number at between 12-15.

Ukrainian officials say, "The Iranians should not have been where they don't belong, aiding terrorists." And this gem: "We knew the Iranians were training and actively guiding the operation of the drones because Russians are not smart enough to figure it out on their own." Bam!

    Re: Russia

The Ukranian-Russian war has entered a new phase. The Ukrans have gone on the offensive and are striking targets inside of Russia. Ukran drones attacked a Russian airbase and destroyed two Bear nuclear bombers and damaged four others, as well as damaging structures on the base. Also, the Russian city of Belgorod, near the Ukrainian border, has been struck by Ukran artillery and missiles. The targets were military, but the Russians are reporting civilian casualties too. Oh well, if Putin would stop killing Ukranian civilians in his relentless cruise missile attacks, maybe the world would give a damn about Russian civilians.

Meanwhile the fighting for the city of Bakhmut has grown even more intense. Likening it to the WW2 battle for Stalingrad, the Russkies are losing an average of 300 KIA and 600 wounded every single day at Bakhmut. The Ukrans have reinforced the lone brigade which was holding the city with two more brigades, and more western (NATO) artillery and other equipment. And the South Korean-built Alta tank has arrived and is much, much superior to anything the Russians have. In fact, Putin has had to dust off 1960's era tanks just to have some armor in the fight. Poland sent the Altas to Ukraine after it received its shipment of K2 Black Panther tanks from South Korea.

In a released statement Putin said Russia will be fighting in Ukraine for a "long, long time." He also played down NATO fears of his resorting to nukes, saying he has no such intentions in Ukraine.

    Putin is losing.

    Re: Russia

Watching some of those videos released by the Ukrans, via The Sun, it is actually heartbreaking to see those Russian soldiers being slaughtered like that. War is stupid enough without making it even stupider!

One clip showed a Russian tank trying to hide in some woody patch. They (the Russian crew) knew they were sitting ducks as two other Russian tanks had just been destroyed right in front of them. You can hear the Ukranian anti-tank missile crews excitedly talking to each other as they hurried along a ridge flanking the third tank. I can't speak Ukranian, but don't have to to understand what they were saying. Then they stopped and readied their rocket as the tank tried to plow through some trees to escape. It bounced off, unable to push through. The tank backed up, got back on the road and then tried to plow through the woods again...no luck. By this time the Ukranians were laughing and mocking the tankers. Then the tank pulled into a patch of shrubs, no protection at all. The Ukrans laughed again and then fired. The rocket punched a hole into the tank and exploded inside. Hopefully the 4-man crew were all killed instantly, else they were roasted to death in the ball of fire.

Putin is losing.... but it is average Russians who are suffering and the paying the ultimate price.

    Re: Russia

Brave Ukrainians are paying the ultimate price for Putin's evil invasion too, unfortunately.

The Sun has started showing captured video taken from the Russian side, most of it from early in the war. One clip, about 5 minutes in duration, comes with translated narrative. It's a Ukran T-64 (Russian-built) tank coming up on three Russkie T-80 tanks. The Ukrans realized their predicament, trapped on a narrow road, and tried to reverse out of there. But Russian tanks have only one low reverse gear, capable of less than 3mph. One of the T-80s charged straight at it and fired an armor-piercing round, destroying the tank. The narrator included comments he thought the doomed Ukranian tank crew might have been saying, like "Oh, shit!"

There's another video with 5 or 6 Ukran soldiers walking along the road when suddenly a Russkie attack helicopter appears over a distant tree line, heading straight for them. One of the soldiers, casually smoking a cigarette, turns, sees the copter and then shrugs making a comment toward the videoer. He waves off any concerns, nodding toward a clump of trees to his left. A rocket streaks from those trees, striking the copter and causing it to spin out of control, crashing in a field behind them. The smoking soldier grins and says something toward the video camera as he casually walks on.

Both of these clips show soldiers dying, the Ukranian tank crew and the Russian helicopter crew. The narrator from The Sun speaks as if this is a video game, rather than real people dying. "See you next time!" the narrator says. Of course, can't be too hard on the narrator as usually the soldiers themselves, the fellows on the ground fighting this war, seem very casual about all the death around them too. Like the grinning/smoking soldier...nothing to see here, just another 5 dead people.

    Re: Russia

I am hooked on The Sun videos. It is a stupid war, a terrible tragedy that needs to end now, but like passing a car wreck I can't help myself...

Latest video shows the antiquated Russian Bear Bombers, making conventional bombing runs...or trying to. Three Bears were engaged by Ukranian jet fighters, interceptors, as the bombers were defended by Russian fighters. One bomber was shot down, no survivors from the crew. Both of the others were struck by jet cannon fire (machine guns) and were last seen trailing smoke as they tried to make their way back to the base across the border. Meanwhile the opposing fighters engaged in a swirling dogfight. Reported that each side lost a fighter in the clash.

Heat-seeking air-to-air missiles is the primary weapon used. So all the planes, including the bombers, fill the sky with white-hot flares, "counter measures" designed to attract a heat-seeking missile. But, with the fighters twisting all over the place, and all of them deploying the flares, the missiles go nuts and could end up hitting a friendly, or even the jet that originally deployed the missile. That is why the Ukran jets attacked the three bombers with their automatic-cannons (20mm) instead of trying a missile.

The Russian Bear Bomber is a four-engine propeller driven aircraft, with backup jet rocket engines (TU-95), that can be used in short bursts for quick escapes.
