    Re: Russia

All this talk about Zelenskyy being a Nazi, a fascist, yet Putin is a fascist, a commie bastard, and far more dangerous to the world than Zelenskyy is or ever will be. Had a conversation with a fellow last night and his viewpoint is for the US, and the rest of the world, to back off and allow Putin to take Ukraine. Maybe that will satisfy the evil bastard and things will calm down. Maybe... he went on to say he'd rather 40 million Ukrainians be made to suffer rather than a nuclear war wipe out billions, including those of us living near Barksdale AF Base, an early target for our enemies to hit. I mention this because in many ways this fellow expresses the opinion of many folks. It's all about self-preservation and others be damned. He also compared Putin to Hitler, not a good person, but Hitler didn't have his finger on a button that could wipe out billions...Putin does.

Okay, I understand and share those concerns. But is this the kind of world we want to live in, one where bullies like Putin and Xi and Little Kim and the moooslim terrorists in Iran just need to threaten bad things and they get to take over nations, enslave people, murder people...And you think they'll just stop after they are holding Mexico....???

    Re: Russia

    Meanwhile back in Ukraine...

It's absolutely amazing how the over-matched Ukrainians are holding their own. And, if all they have to do to win is NOT LOSE, then one can say Ukraine is winning the war.

The Ukrainian air force is simply unbelievable. Flying mostly older SU-27 fighter jets they have fought the Russians to a stalemate in the sky. Always outnumbered at least 5 to 1, and up against superior, faster jets, the gallant Ukranian pilots have denied Putin mastery of the air. And this is allowing Ukrainian ground forces to mount counterattacks and Putin's forces are stymied.

The Turkish-made drones, slow, plodding, propeller driven but numerous and effective have baffled the Russians. They are extracting a heavy toll on stalled Russian units. Also, someone has snuck some state-of-the-art anti-aircraft missile batteries into Ukraine, and these have scared the dickens out of the Russian pilots...wonder where those came from ?

Your assumption that the killing would stop after Russia takes Ukraine is the same thinking that took place when Hitler invaded Poland in 1939, and we see where that ended up. Besides, if Ukraine becomes Russia, Putin has engineered his own self-fulfilling prophecy where his borders are surrounded by NATO nations and troops, which kind of defeats his stated purpose.

The last thing actually happened here...it was the 2020 stolen election!
It is idiotic that they haven't called Putin's bluff on that though. "You want peace? Here's all your terms fulfilled. Now give us peace." Then they can at least say they tried for peace. There do not seem to have been any serious considerations of any offers - it doesn't matter if he's probably lying. You have to attempt peace. What is the downside? That he continues doing what he's doing now?

Yes - it would enlarge his border. That's either 1) a miscalculation - possible, but he's not an idiot or 2) he intends to keep Ukraine as a buffer state with a Russian puppet govt rather than a NATO one. I suppose a third option is that he really does consider reabsorbing Ukraine to be his only course of action against an aggressive West. I have to think that the buffer state is the best solution, since that is what Russia has been explicitly asking for since the fall of the USSR. Gee, I seem to remember a young Senator making that point many years ago. Jim Boden? Wonder what ever happened to him. This is kind of my point with the offered deals - if Putin had announced an invasion out of the blue, that would be more understandable that he has wider dreams. Fact is, this is what Russia has been warning us about for 30 years. And many of our own people, including that Boden guy, have been warning about the same thing. Gee I hope he's ok and not being pumped full of drugs to stave off dementia. So I'm inclined to think there is at least a small bit of merit to the claim. "Rational but not reasonable" as Scott Horton put it.

Ah, I thought that sounded familiar!

Meanwhile, Xi strengthens ties with Russia against the common enemy of NATO: they haven't forgotten the yearly color revolutions in Europe and the bombing of their embassy in Yugoslavia. That is the real threat behind the threat, assuming we don't annihilate 90% of life on earth before that point.

If you watch Amir Tsarfati, he has a different take than many news outlets in the west. According to what he believes, Russian has more sophisticated arms they have not broken out yet. Also, when you have 2000 tanks, you really don’t miss 40 of them. Same thing with the number of planes and even soldiers they have lost. Russia isn’t losing. That is at least what I have seen on tv and print media.

Also, Israel has developers working on a laser based defense system. Can disable enemy armaments while they are still outside of Israel airspace. God will protect Israel, whether through technology or Devine intervention.

Possibly. I have seen some explanations of Soviet military doctrine where the first few waves are intended to "clear out" old armaments and harden green troops. Perhaps that is so.

Seeing that Azov is retreating to a smaller area of Mariupol. Won't be sorry to see them get eliminated. I wonder if their inevitable defeat will trigger any change in the Russian objective.
