This program needs to get their sheet together. It's been two full years since winning the CUSA title in 2019. Finishing 22-30 is an embarrassment. Fix the problem, Dr Wood.
The final record was disappointing but the challenges this program faced contributed to some degree. Three head coaches in three years has to have played a role. Ten of the nineteen 2020 players did not return for the 2021 season due to graduations, transfers to other schools, etc. Of this year's 20 players, 7 were freshmen and 4 transfers playing their first year at Tech. One new assistant coach in 2021. Lots of road games while the stadium was being completed. Lots of mistakes by a very young team. A year removed from these issues, I am confident we will see a much improved outcome in 2022.
And I still think we need Winn's name off this forum, please.
I know. We're just loaded with excuses. But nobody cares about that. Champions have to put all that kind of "stuff" behind them and move on at some point. It's time. I'm tired of seeing UNT win all of LA Tech's CUSA championship trophies. UNT has now stolen Tech's 2021 CUSA title in men's basketball and women's softball. In men's basketball, our extremely important Point Guard --who literally makes everything happen-- broke his hand in a meaningless game just before the CUSA Tournament. Not real smart. But at least that team had the heart to bounce back and make a great run in the NIT.
The ladies finished 22-30. That just doesn't cut it, no mater what our excuse.
I don't know why LA Tech always seems to be the "Drama Queen" school of CUSA....but I'm ready for Tech to start winning some of these CUSA titles instead of just giving them all to UNT.
is Bianca going to be the full time HC?
Softball is an easy sport to be competitive in because of the rise and popularity of competitive travel ball right now.
The Lady Techsters don't have a coach. They haven't had a coach in two years. Winn had personal health struggles (understandably) and the one now should be coaching high school somewhere, NOT College Softball. You earn your way up in College Softball. We handed her the reigns with no real experience.
Look at McNeese State. Killing it after 3 major natural disasters in less than a year.
Softball should be the first program cleaned up by the AD.
Curious what "cleaned up" entails.
they are advertising for a new softball HC on twitter so they're at least considering going in another direction
Liberty has a better softball coach than we do. Let that sink in.
I would doubt we will get a lot of stellar applicants because of such embarrassing low pay--great new facilities, yep--but pay scale is abysmal...I can just hear those discussion behind closed doors about WHERE money would come from!
