The Brits grew a pair when Trump was president, growing bolder and more confident the US would stick to its commitment to push back on the world's bullies...namely, China, North Korea, and Iran...and really began a build-up of their military, especially the Royal Navy. Yes, obviously, such ships as the two carriers have been on their drawing board for many years prior to Trump taking office, but such projects can be terminated quite easily. Instead they rushed to finish both...now the second modern carrier HMS Prince of Wales has put to sea for trials and final fittings, scheduled to join her sister ship, the QE, in the Pacific soon.
I will say this...as I am "fair and balanced"...thus far the Biden administration has not waivered even one bit on the Trump blueprint re: the three bullies. Plans put into place under Trump have been rubber-stamped by the Biden administration....except the Afghanistan mess, but that does not involve the Three Bullies. Of course, Trump wanted to get out of Afghanistan too, so even there there is something in common.
The "world," especially the wussy Europeans, who were hoping Biden would be more a dove and less a hawk have been disappointed so far.
