    Louisiana Tech Barnes & Noble is a little better regarding putting out better products.

    The only issue I had with them last time I visited is trying to find a basic State-T coffee mug. These were the only selection. No one vet this stuff out before they order and put it their shelves.

    I have a basic State T mug like the third one above but the real logo. It was a Christmas present several years ago so I'm not sure where they got it.

    What I really want this person to do is get us added to the Homefield Apparel group. You can't tell me they couldn't dig up some cool looking old Bulldog wearing a beanie from a Lagniappe photo and make it look amazing. Or a retro Lady Techsters hoodie. Or something. I think we have multiple threads here through the years looking for that type of thing.

    Reginald McIntyre (Reggie) is the new Assistant Athletics Director for Brand Engagement at Louisiana Tech after spending the past four years at Wichita State. He will be in charge of brand engagement at Louisiana Tech, overseeing all the marketing strategy efforts for the 16 athletic teams. He will also have direct oversight of our creative video department while working diligently and creatively to enhance the gameday experience for the student-athletes and fan base.

    Q: What is your background? Who is Reggie McIntyre?

    A: I’m originally from North Carolina, where I graduated from North Carolina State University with my bachelors in Sport Management. I then obtained my master’s degree in sport administration at the University of Louisville.

    During the course of my career I’ve had direct supervision of the overall marketing strategy at two separate Division 1 institutions, which focused on both revenue enhancement and brand development.

    Outside of work, I love music and technology. I love video games and the e-sports industry.

    Q: What is your goal for the first month on the job at Louisiana Tech?

    A: During the first month my main goal is to shape and cultivate our department culture. John Maxwell once said “if your habits don’t line up with your dreams, then you need to either change your habits, or change your dreams.” We want to build a team that wants to compete and showcase LA Tech at its finest. If an aspect of our department can be measured we want to strive to be number one in that area.

    Recruiting young minds is at the top of my list. I am looking for energetic people that want to make a difference to help improve our brand. Internships are available and I can be reached at mcintyre@latech.edu.

    We will focus on the three pillars of sport marketing which are fan development, brand management, and revenue generation. We want to connect with all of our sporting community, converse with our head coaches to learn what is important to them, and learn from our student-athletes because that is who we serve.

    Q: What are some of the brand engagement strategies that you incorporated at Wichita State that you would like to bring to Ruston?

    First and foremost, I want to invest in the fans and make data-based decisions. We will make sure we survey past purchasers, search social media, and ask questions in the community. I look forward to hearing from fans because their voices matter. I hope to make game days memorable for anyone who steps foot in our venues.

    We want to continue to build upon our brand. Student-athlete experience both on and off the field is critical. We want to dive deeper and tell the stories of our student-athletes, coaches, and staff by personalizing our marketing messages. Using our content to educate will be fun because we want to celebrate who we are.

    Q: What was it about this job that interested you?

    A: Louisiana Tech Athletics is investing in external operations and wants to compete in all aspects. LA Tech has the potential to become a national power under the direction of the Director of Athletics, Dr. Eric A. Wood. I love building programs. This job provides an opportunity to create, teach, and most importantly make a difference.

    Q: What are your early impressions of the people at Louisiana Tech and within the Ruston community?

    A: I love the people here. Everyone has treated me like family. From my first interview to my arrival in Ruston everything has been first class. I am thrilled to be joining the LA Tech and Ruston community.

    Well he says the right things. I will reserve judgement for a clouple of years, but wish him the best. Wonder what he thought of our first class media day?
