Bracket with 2020 matchups using final CFP rankings
    #1 vs #8/#9 (Alabama vs Cincinnati/Georgia)
    #2 vs #7/#10 (Clemson vs Florida/Iowa State)
    #3 vs #6/#11 (Ohio State vs Oklahoma/Indiana)
#4 vs #5/#12 (Notre Dame vs Texas A&M/Coastal Carolina)

Note that no Pac 12 team would have qualified as the top team was USC at #17. Any guaranteed spot for each of the P5 conference champions should come attached with at least one G5 guaranteed spot.
The first four seeds get a bye,

All Power 5 champions are in.

No way in hell will the G5 get a guarateed spot for each P5 conference champion guaranteed spot. That would only leave 2 at-large bids, the whole idea behind expansion is to allow more at-large spots.

    From the article.

A 12-team field would presumably allow for six automatic bids -- Power Five conference champions and the top-ranked Group of Five team -- along with six at-large bids.

I can remember those days. We have a lot of catching up to do. The Sunbelt had two teams finish in the AP top 15 last season, those two teams will be ranked at the start of this season also.

Trivia question, when is the last time CUSA could say either of those statements, in its current configuration?

I said 5 P5 champion spots means there must also be at least one G5 spot. I never said 5 G5 spots.

Good stuff. I would encourage everybody to read the SECOND story in that link, vs the first. It's got much better detailed info and the writer is less emotive. Here's the title:

College Football Playoff 12-team expansion: SEC, Group of Five among winners; Rose Bowl tops losers

Running out of water, soft drinks, peanuts, chili for nachos, and ice at all, never mind multiple times, is completely a junior high mistake. Running out in the 4th inning to boot. It’s ridiculous. How do we ever expect the important stuff to be done right if the most simple can be so easily screwed up. Not acknowledging this might mean you are part of the apathetic, satisfied with mediocrity, happy in the Southland Conference problem. I hope that’s not true.

"Sadly, proposed College Football Playoff expansion puts the emphasis on access over excellence

Expanding the CFP to 12 teams will allow more teams into the playoff who have no business being there"

This guy is a freaking MORON! The Tampa Bay Buccaneers had no business being in the NFL playoffs!
